Dear Parents,

I want to welcome you and your child to Kindergarten! I am looking forward to working with you and I hope you and your child will find this year interesting and enjoyable. Here you will find our specialist schedule as well as some things your child will need for school and how you can help.

Specialists
Monday – Physical Ed.
Tuesday – Art
Wednesday – Academic Integration (Computer class)
Thursday – Music
Friday – Library

* Please remind your child to wear sneakers for Physical Education class.
* Your child will need a smock or an old shirt, labeled with his/her name for Art. Smocks will be kept in school throughout the school year and will be returned in June. Please send in your child’s smock anytime after the first day of school.
Suggestion: If you plan on using a parent’s old shirt, please try the following:
1) Cut the sleeves to accommodate your child’s arm length (pinking shears work great).
2) Iron on velcro near the buttons and button holes – this makes removal of smocks that much easier.

School Supplies
Schoolbag labeled with your child’s name (non-rolling)
Smock or old shirt for art labeled with child’s name
Three boxes of Crayola crayons (8 pack)
Large glue sticks (10)
Box of tissues
Mr. Clean Magic Eraser sponge
Expo Dry Erase Markers

Children do not need to bring any scissors, or erasers. These supplies will be provided. The children are not permitted to bring toys from home into school. The toys may get broken or misplaced.

It will be a great help if all coats, boots, and mittens are labeled with your child’s name. This helps to avoid confusion and gives your child the opportunity to practice reading his/her name and the names of his/her classmates.

How Parents Can Help
Although your child is now in Kindergarten, you are still the most important teacher in your child’s life. Here are a few ways you can help your child in school.

• Attend school activities as often as possible.
• Read and answer all notes from school.
• Talk about everyday experiences.
• Praise your child everyday.
• Read with your child everyday.
• Provide materials for cutting, coloring, building, and writing.

If at any time you have questions, please do not hesitate to call the school, send a note or an email. Together we will help your child take that first important step into school.

Sincerely,

Miss Kelly Liberto
