Breaking CHAINS and Learning from our history – Sixth grade students at East Hills Middle School will read the novel, Chains by Laurie Halse Anderson and discuss and debate the issues of slavery and war. Discussion will revolve around family, courage, friendship, suffering and identity. Students will connect to their community by taking a field trip to downtown Bethlehem where the tour will reflect the Revolutionary War history of Bethlehem.
