Kalman Sarkozy, Sr. Memorial Fund

The Foundation for the Bethlehem Area School District is pleased to announce its establishment of the Kalman Sarkozy, Sr. Memorial Fund with support from the
Sarkozy family. On November 4th, 2019 the Sarkozy family partnered with The Foundation to memorialize the accomplishments of community member and soccer legend, Kalman Sarkozy,Sr. while giving back to the community. The Kalman Sarkozy, Sr. Memorial Fund will award scholarships, support Bethlehem Area School District sports programming or support sports activities of a student in need.

“We are honored to partner with the Sarkozy family to establish the memorial fund. Coach Sarkozy was a great mentor to many students and their families over the years. This memorial fund will just be a part of his lasting legacy to our community.” said Julie Bailey, Executive Director of The Foundation for the Bethlehem Area School District.

Kalman Sarkozy, Sr. was a loved and well-respected community member. Sarkozy dedicated nearly four decades to the shaping and developing of sports in the Bethlehem area. His
dedication and commitment to BASD landed him a very special spot in the Liberty High School
Hall of Fame. He was a soccer coach at Liberty High School for more than thirty years. Within
those thirty years, Coach Sarkozy embraced, supported, trained, and guided the youth in the
Bethlehem area. Kalman Sarkozy, Sr. was the face and heart of Bethlehem soccer. “Soccer
was always a huge part of our lives in the Sarkozy house. Liberty High School and my dad’s
players meant the world to him. He helped so many youth players during his coaching career,

and we’re hoping this memorial fund will be a way for him to continue to help BASD youth
achieve their goals.” said Erika Sarkozy Barron, daughter of Kalman Sarkozy, Sr.
