The purpose of this project is to help students with special needs gain social skills needed to become active members in their community. This will be achieved through a social skills curriculum called Model Me Kids. This curriculum uses DVDs that model behavior for making friends, in conjunction with workbooks that help the student analyze and practice the scenarios. Students will be encouraged to meet after school to practice the social skill activities with students from the mainstream population. Applying the Model Me Kids curriculum students will plan, create, and implement a fundraiser benefitting a local organization.
