With grant funding, Strong Interest Inventory Profile assessment tests will be purchased for each student in Mr. Dunstan’s Freshman Seminar course. Students in this particular Freshman Seminar course differ than other students in the same course due to the fact that they were selected by middle school guidance counselors, teachers and administrators to specifically work together with Mr. Dunstan. Students selected for this course have high academic ability, but have been somewhat encumbered by difficulties that have inhibited them from reaching their full potential. The low academic success is a result of obstacles that have limited them circumstantially, familial or socio-economically. The goal of this course is to not only help each student experience the core of a Freshman Seminar course, but to help put them on a path to maximize their high school experience by pin-pointing their interests, abilities, talents, and skills and build up their self-esteem and leadership development. The Strong Inventory Profile assessment test will provide the necessary information for student success.
