Students Honored for Music, Culinary, and Board Representative Accomplishments

Various students were honored during the May 21, 2019 regular Bethlehem Area School District Board Meeting including student board reps, a top culinary student, and PMEA participants.

Student School Board Recognition – Freedom


Student school board representatives serve the school board for a period of one year, attend monthly school board meetings and serve the school board throughout the school year.

The school board  recognized Alianna Davis of Freedom High School for providing the student voice to the School Board, a unique perspective that assists the Board in its deliberations and for providing the monthly reports of the many events and achievements that occur at Freedom High School. We wish her all the best after graduation.

We would also like to congratulate Joshua James Konschnik of Freedom High School for his service as an alternate student board representative and wish him well as he takes over Alianna’s position in September.

The School Board recognized Elisabeth Lee of Liberty High School
for providing the student voice to the School Board, and a unique perspective that assists the Board in its deliberations and for providing the monthly reports of the many events and achievements that occur at Liberty High School.

We would also like to congratulate Zoey Rose Reifinger of Liberty High School for her service as an alternate student board representative and wish her well as she takes over Alianna’s position in September.

Sodexo to Present Award

Anthony Kowalak of Sodexo introduced the Future Chef winner, Ibrahim Allaik, a 5th grader at Fountain Hill Elementary. Ibrahim beat out other very talented students during the Future Chef competition held at Northeast Middle School earlier this year.

Music Recognition for PMEA Participants

Music is an important facet of our school’s educational programs, fostering innovation and creativity in our students. The Bethlehem Area School district is fortunate to have some musically talented high school students that recently advanced in various categories and competitions this year.

Freedom High School PMEA Winners

The following FHS students were selected to participate in the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association’s District 10 Band Festival, District 10 Chorus Festival, and the Region 5 Chorus Festival. Students auditioned for the bands in early December and are selected by score.

Liberty High School PMEA Winners


At this time, we ask Harrison Bailey, Principal of Liberty High School to step forward with band director Allen Frank.

The following ten LHS students were selected to participate in the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association for the District 10 Band Festival, District 10 Orchestra Festival, Region 5 Band Festival, and Region 5 Orchestra Festival. Additionally, there was one student that participated in the All-State Orchestra, one that participated in the All-State Wind Ensemble and three in the All-State Concert Band. Students auditioned for the bands in early December and are selected by score.
