Home / Athletics / Freedom girls basketball wants to keep growing after PIAA loss to state’s No. 1

Sophomore Brenna Ortwein had a team-high 13 points for Freedom (23-6). Junior Jennifer Kokolus had six points and seven rebounds.

The Patriots don’t have any seniors on their roster. Reiman can withstand Tuesday’s result if his underclassman-rich squad uses it as a chance to grow.

“If we learn from it, so be it,” he said. “We’ve got a young group. If that puts us back in this spot next year and we get over the hump, it’s a valuable lesson.”

Freedom, which won its first District 11 championship in 12 years before falling in the same round of states last season, can still draw a lot of positives from another winning campaign.

“They love each other; they play together; they play the right way,” Reiman said. “I couldn’t be more proud of them.”
