Dear Parents & Guardians of Nitschmann Middle School Students,
This April, your child will be participating in the 2019 Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA) by the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) to provide a snapshot of their current academic performance in core academic subjects. All students will be taking the required standardized Mathematics and English Language Arts assessments. Eighth grade students will also be taking the required Science assessment.
The dates for the 2019 PSSA for Nitschmann Middle School will be:
English Language Arts (6th, 7th, 8th): April 23, 24, & 25, 2019
Mathematics (6th, 7th, 8th): April 29 & 30, 2019
Science (8th): May 1 & 2, 2019
During the testing window, your child will report to their normal homeroom for administration of the assessment. Our normal class schedule will begin once the majority of students have completed the day’s assessment. Teachers will continue with classes, schoolwork, and homework during testing window. Students will follow the PDE Electronic Device policy and school policies on student behavior. Violations of these policies will be addressed by administration. In addition, students must be present and on time for the assessment on each day listed above, unless they are sick with a doctor’s excuse. Doctor appointments or other appointments for anything other than a serious illness will not be accepted.
