American Education Week (Mayes) Dear Parents & Guardians, Each October, the Bethlehem Area School District celebrates our community’s commitment to public education with our BASD American Education Week. We invite you to join us and visit your child’s classrooms during certain times on October 15, 16, 17, & 18.  The schedule has been posted here. Each day, adult family members may join us by checking in at the Main Entrance with our volunteers. We require that you not bring younger siblings to classes, as the classrooms are small and classes are in session. Instead, consider sharing childcare responsibilities with a neighbor or friend. Seating may not be available in classrooms due to their limited size. Parents are not permitted to join their children at lunch during the lunch period due to seating.  Please talk with your child so they know you are coming in and what classes they have each period on the day scheduled. The offices will not be able to print schedules this week. Thank you!

NMS Walk-A-Thon (Ellis & Kocon) Link to Information Dear Nitschmann Students & Families, It’s time for our NMS Walk-a-Thon! Leadership Council has planned a fun and fit activity for the Nitschmann students. Your Nitschmann lion will walk during school hours on Friday, October 25th.  Your participation in obtaining sponsors for this event is crucial to our success. We need everyone’s help in achieving our goal of $10,000. The funds we raise will help leadership council offset the cost of grade level field trips, assembly programs, grade-level and schoolwide activities, as well as recognition and rewards programs.  These funds are critical to provide the “Nitschmann experience” to each child! If each family raises $15, we will achieve our goal.  We have provided incentives for students to earn as they raise money for our walk (see reverse). Students may start collecting pledges as soon as they receive the pledge sheet.  Door to door solicitation is not encouraged. Students are encouraged to ask their family members and friends for a flat donation to support student activities at Nitschmann. Checks should be made out to Nitschmann Middle School. Your student’s name should be written on the memo line. Please be sure to place all your money inside the attached envelope and return it to your homeroom teacher no later than Wednesday, October 23rd. Late submissions will be accepted, but students will not be eligible for prizes. We’re hoping to make this Walk-a-Thon fun and successful.  Thank you for your efforts and support in helping raise funds for our students!

Schoology Directions for Parents

Dropping Off Forgotten Items (Falcone):  We strive to encourage each student to be responsible and organized in preparation for their future high school years.  Recently there has been an increased volume of items that students have forgotten at home and parents have brought into the school for them. This has caused a decrease in class instruction time caused by frequent interruptions.  We understand some items are necessary to conduct a normal school day such as: BASD Chromebooks, eyeglasses and lunch. Items such as clothing, sports equipment and phones do not warrant interruption to the entire class. To prevent interruptions to all our students, we ask that should you decide to drop off an item, you label that item with your child’s name and grade and place the item in the designated area located within the Student Service Office.  Send your child an email at their BASD email account to remind them, please do not text or call your child during the school day, which can lead to their cell phone confiscation.
