Home / News / 2019_11_6 Winter Weather Arrival Information

Dear Parents, Guardians, & Students,

Just a reminder that when the weather turns colder, our arrival procedures may change for all students.

We expect all students to dress for the winter or rainy weather each day. Students should wear their winter coats or raincoats, wear hats/gloves, bring umbrellas, and wear sturdy shoes (no slides or Crocs). Our lockers are large enough to hold these items during the day.

Students are expected to wait outside until 8:05 am for school to begin. If your child needs extra time for homework or computer use, our Library Computer Lab is open for Power-Up every day from 7:30 am-8:00 am. Our cafeteria opens for breakfast every day, doors are open from 7:45 am-7:55 am.

Please wait on the far side of the main parking lot if you are waiting to drop off your child. Please leave the near side of the main parking lot to the school for quick drop-offs. Please do not wait until 8:00 am – 8:05 am to drop off your child, due to congestion in the main parking lot. We encourage all students who are able to ride a BASD bus, walk to school, or ride a bike to school to do so each morning to reduce traffic and congestion in the main parking lot. Please only use the office parking lot if your child is injured with crutches/wheelchair or you have an appointment in Student Services.

Students will be brought into the school early through the Auditorium Doors starting at 7:45 am only under extreme circumstances. This usually only occurs 2-3 times per school year. Extreme weather may include heavy snow, heavy rain, or bitterly severe wind chill temperatures. If students are waiting outside, you will see Dr. Mayes and/or Mr. Horlick waiting along with them for arrival.

Dr. Mayes will only inform parents & students of any arrival weather changes through the Bethlehem Area School District app. Dr. Mayes will not use social media, email, or phone for this information. Students, parents, & guardians should download it now for winter weather information and alerts. See your smartphone app store for this app ASAP!

Please contact me with any questions or concerns.

Thank you.
