2020_2021_NMS All Grades School Supply List
Dear Parents & Guardians,
We hope that you have seen Dr. Roy’s announcement on Friday that the BASD is planning to open in a hybrid schedule for the 2020-2021 school year. You can find all of this information at https://www.basdschools.org/reopening.
I have spoken to many parents over the past few weeks about our concerns. As the father of a Nitschmann student and a Liberty student, I have lots of worries too. However, I am excited that we will have an opportunity to bring smaller groups of students into school two days a week to begin as we move forward into the 2020-2021 school year. Personally, I am happy to have my girls back in school for a part of the week with all of the safety and clearing procedures in place.
Now, it is time for us to finalize for the planned opening for the First Day of School on Monday, August 31, 2020. Our school team has been preparing our safety, cleaning, and academic plans all summer to make this school year the best one ever! We will be meeting with parents through Zoom Webinars as we approach the start of the school year. Please watch these Sunday emails for information as we move ahead. Our first one is this Wednesday (see below).

In addition, please email or call Mr. Horlick or myself and we can assist with your questions. I recommend listening to the start of the school year plan in our webinars before making this important decision!

This Week’s Major Headlines:
- Parent Information/Q&A Session this Wednesday: Dr. Mayes & Mr. Horlick will be meeting with parents this Wednesday to review questions about our proposed start of school in the hybrid schedule for the 2020-2021 school year. While there are still lots of unanswered questions, we will be holding this Q&A to help parents & guardians prepare for the start. We are limited with only 100 participants in a webinar, but will also be live streaming to our YouTube site. You must pre-register and can register here at https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_N5j_fRDSSNiMwS3xJnflBw We look forward to getting the Nitschmann Nation ready for the 2020-2021 school year!
- Offices: The Main & Student Service Offices will be open Tuesdays, Wednesdays, & Thursdays from 9 am-1 pm. Face masks & social distancing procedures must be followed to enter the building. Enrollment/disenrollment, address changes, and phone changes should be emailed immediately to Mrs. Scott at sscott@basdschools.org. Chromebooks must be returned before disenrollment may occur.
- 2020-21 Schedule Distribution: Academic schedules will be handed out IN-PERSON the first week of August (they will also be mailed). Please see the schedule & locations below.
- Yearbooks: The 2019-2020 yearbooks have been delivered! They may be picked up at the Main Entrance on Tuesday, July 28 from 6pm-7pm. There are also a few extra yearbooks for purchase – first come, first served and cost $40 (only cash accepted).

School Supply List (Mayes) Please see the 2020-2021 NMS School Supply List at this link. Please contact your child’s guidance counselor if you have a specific need!
BASD Chromebooks (Mayes) All students should keep their Chromebooks until the fall, unless you are disenrolling your child from the Bethlehem Area School District. Then, they would be returned at disenrollment to Mrs. Scott in Guidance. A reminder that Go Guardian is still active on all student accounts & laptops.
2020-2021 Interscholastic Sports (Ortwein) BASD Physical Forms must be completed prior to practice starting on Monday, August 17, 2020. Please submit completed forms to the Student Services Office. The forms are available at this link.
