Parent & Student Weekly Email

Nitschmann Middle School Weekly Update, Home of the Nitschmann Nation!

Sunday, March 7, 2021, to Sunday, March 14, 2021

  • Spring Sports Begin Tuesday, 3/9: Students participating in NMS soccer & softball should be prepared to be inside & outside this week as we kick off our normal spring sports season. See information below. Note: 8th grade boys trying out for the LHS freshman baseball team have been emailed the necessary information.

  • 2021 PSSA & Keystones Exams: Dates for the 2021 PSSA & Keystones will be announced shortly by the BASD. We are planning to administer these exams in May online at school. Dr. Mayes will have a video prepared with everything when this plan is updated.

  • AM Drop-Offs & PM Pick-Ups: As the winter weather fades, please keep in mind that the Main Parking Lot is designed to have quick drop offs & pick ups as needed. We have seen a decline in students riding the busses in the am & pm – there are plenty of seats on the busses for all students who are eligible to ride on hybrid days. We encourage students to walk, ride their bikes, and ride the busses each day to reduce the number of cars in the lots at arrival & dismissal. Students should take advantage of the nicer weather!

  • Outdoor Lunch Dining Returns: As soon as the snow melts on the patio this week, students will be able to dine outside at lunch periods on the patio. When the grass is dry and free of snow with warmer temperatures, they will be permitted to sit in the grass.

  • Outdoor Physical Education Resumes: Students should be prepared on warm days to return outside for physical education classes during the week. We want our students outside on the turf to get some exercise!

  • Welcome to Officer DeFrank!: Bethlehem Police Officer DeFrank will be joining us at Nitschmann to take Officer Joniec’s place, as he assumed a new position within the department. Please welcome Officer DeFrank and wish Officer Joniec good luck in his career!
