Dear Parents & Guardians,

This will be our final Sunday email for the 2020-2021 school year. I would like to thank all of you for your hard work and dedication to your children. While this year was challenging, I believe it has given all of us a golden opportunity to review and reflect on the role of public education in the lives of our children. I read an article recently in a major US newspaper about how this year was the “Lost Year” and I absolutely disagree with it’s premise. Your children, our teachers, and I have learned a great deal this year about what is truly important in our school and that some things need to change for 2021-2022. It is my hope and belief that this year will be remembered for all of the right reasons.

I would like to wish Mr. Horlick good luck in his new position for the 2021-2022 school year as the new principal of Broughal Middle School. In addition, I would like to wish Ms. Bouhana good luck in her new position as Mr. Horlick’s assistant principal at Broughal Middle School. I am excited for you to all meet Mrs. Woodson, our new assistant principal, this fall.

I am looking forward to kicking off our 100th Anniversary celebration this fall and welcoming all of your children back to school every day. I hope that you and your families have an enjoyable, restful, and fun summer. Please contact me at any time with anything I can do to assist you or your child.

Sincerely,

Dr. Mayes, Principal
