REDEMPTIONS:\u00a0<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The final dates to turn in Proud Pounds are\u00a0Tuesday, May 1st\u00a0for 6th grade during lunch,\u00a0Wednesday, May 2nd\u00a0for 7th grade during lunch, and\u00a0Thursday, May 3rd\u00a0for 8th grade during lunch. Please\u00a0remember to bring your Proud Pounds to lunch!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">*8th Grade Northeast PROUD members:\u00a0 there will be a brief meeting with you today, April 30th, for volunteer signups for this week&#8217;s upcoming PROUDATHON.\u00a0 Please see either Mrs. Parker or Miss Danner with any questions. The PROUDATHON is\u00a0this Friday!\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>SPORTS<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">:\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">8th Grade Track Meet practices begin today! All participants should meet at the field house after school for practice until\u00a05:00pm. If you did not sign up, but would still like to participate, please come to practice today. See Ms. Frederick in room A305 or Mr. Reiss in room A308 with any questions.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">*Congrats to the Soccer Team this past\u00a0Friday. They faced at home Broughal Middle School. It was a revenge game, for the last time they met, it was a Tie- Zero to Zero. However, the Defense led by Ryan Haupt, Alex Issac, William Lotto, and William Eckert all kept a shut-out. The Hornets Varsity team won 1 to zero with a goal by Joseph Snyder. For the JV game, Ryan Haupt received an assist from Justin\u00a0Cacears, and the JV team won 1 to Zero too.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">*Come support the Hornets\u00a0tomorrow\u00a0when they face Nazareth at home\u00a0on Tuesday this week. Tickets $1 each or $5 for 6 tickets.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Sponsored by NEPTO!<\/span><\/p>\n<p>MAJORETTES:\u00a0<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">If you are interested in trying out for the Northeast Majorettes for next school year, please plan on attending the practice dates on Monday, April 30th and\u00a0Tuesday, May 1st from 6PM &#8211; 8PM.\u00a0\u00a0Majorette tryouts will be held on\u00a0Wednesday May 2nd from 6PM &#8211; 8PM.\u00a0Practices and tryouts will be held in the gym. \u00a0Please bring your own baton and wear sneakers. \u00a0If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Davis or Mr. Rupnik.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0The try-out date for the Liberty High School Majorette Squad is on\u00a0<\/span>Wed. May 9, 2018\u00a0<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">after school at Liberty HS in the band room.\u00a0 The candidates trying out will be responsible for learning a 64-count Liberty High School routine AND developing a 32-48 count routine of their own.\u00a0\u00a0The practice\u00a0and\u00a0try-out will be held on\u00a0Wednesday, May 9, 2018\u00a0at Liberty High School as soon as our school day is over. Music is optional if you wish to bring it.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Students are to bring a copy of their\u00a0most recent report card\u00a0to the try-out.\u00a0\u00a0Students\u00a0MUST march\u00a0during their entire try-out. (They should march during the Liberty High School routine &amp; their own routine.)\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>6th &amp; 7th GRADE DANCE<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">:\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Hornets, now that PSSA testing is finally over, and the school year is starting to wind down, the Northeast PTO is sponsoring one last dance for the 6th and 7th graders for the 2017-2018 year.\u00a0 The Last Blast Dance will be on Friday, May 4th from 7 to 9 pm. Admission is $5.00 for any eligible student who receives a ticket from their teacher.\u00a0 We will be welcoming the incoming 6th graders to this dance as well, so bring your friends and let&#8217;s show them how much Hornet Pride we have!! \u00a0\u00a0Our amazing snack stand will be open, with lots of great treats. We will also have Sand Crafters Edible Sand Art Tubes available for purchase at $3.00 a piece.\u00a0 Bring your friends show the incoming students how much we love Northeast!! \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>WEEKEND HIGHLIGHTS<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Congrats to the Northeast Dance Team! They performed Nitschmann&#8217;s first stomp show\u00a0on Friday!\u00a0 Great job!<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The world percussion ensemble performed\u00a0Saturday\u00a0for Cops and Kids!\u00a0 What a great job!<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Northeast select chorus performed for the Ethan Bortnick concert to a sold out show Last night! Everyone was amazed at how amazing Northeast sounded!\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Thanks so much to members of the dance team, step team, jazz ensemble, world percussion ensemble, Once Upon a Mattress cast, and Ethan Bortnick chorus members for an incredible weekend of music!\u00a0 You make us all NORTHEAST PROUD!\u00a0 Our Bethlehem community thanks YOU!<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>THOUGHT OF THE DAY<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">:\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Somebody once did some research on two different groups of people. One group did volunteer work. They volunteered in the community because they cared about people. The other group didn\u2019t do any volunteer work.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Guess what the results were? Those who did volunteer work at least once a week outlived those who did not by more than two or one. What do you think that says about others? About serving others?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Now listen to the words of 19th century English author, Hannah More:\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">None are too small, too feeble, too poor to be of service. Think of this and act.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Hannah More created schools for underpriviledged children. Today, ask yourself how you can serve others in your school or your community or at home.
