{"id":3611,"date":"2019-01-25T18:48:20","date_gmt":"2019-01-25T18:48:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/basdwpweb.beth.k12.pa.us\/northeast\/?p=3611"},"modified":"2019-01-28T14:47:14","modified_gmt":"2019-01-28T14:47:14","slug":"announcements-for-january-25-2019","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/basdwpweb.beth.k12.pa.us\/northeast\/2019\/01\/25\/announcements-for-january-25-2019\/","title":{"rendered":"Announcements for January 25, 2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"fcbkbttn_buttons_block\" id=\"fcbkbttn_left\"><\/div><p><strong>BASD ALL-CITY MIDDLE SCHOOL SEMI-FORMAL:<\/strong> The All-City Middle School\u00a0Semi-Formal\u00a0is taking place on Friday Feb 8th from 6p-9p at Liberty High School.\u00a0Tickets cost\u00a0$8\u00a0and\u00a0MUST\u00a0be purchased in advance.\u00a0\u00a0Proper Semi-Formal attire is required to enter.\u00a0 Students with failing grades and behavior referrals will not be permitted to attend the dance.\u00a0 Tickets can be purchased from Officer Elias during lunch periods.<\/p>\n<p><strong>SIXTH GRADE FUNDRAISER: <\/strong>Attention All 6th Grade Northeast students!!!\u00a0 Students in the 6th grade class will be holding a 3 on 3 basketball tournament fundraiser of which all proceeds will benefit the New Bethany Ministries to help the less fortunate.\u00a0 The 3 on 3 basketball tournament will be held during periods 8 and 9 at a date to be determined. If you are interested in participating and entering a team into the tournament please see Jahsi Cole and Dywane Chess or Mr. Callahan to sign your team up. The winning team will be awarded a free Pizza Party.\u00a0Team names and participants, along with the $6 team entry fee ($2 per player) will be accepted until the end of the school day next Friday January 25th.<\/p>\n<p><strong>STOMP SHOW:<\/strong> This is the amazing annual Northeast Stomp Show, where schools from all over the Lehigh Valley will be showing off their best in dance and step. Northeast students get a special price of $5, adults are $8.50.\u00a0 Tickets go on sale next week!\u00a0 The show is 1 week away on Friday, February 1!<\/p>\n<p><strong>ACTIVITIES:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>WORLD LANGUAGE CLUB<\/strong>: Our next meeting will be on Wednesday, February 13th in room B201.<\/li>\n<li><strong>ZOMBIE CLUB:<\/strong> Next meeting will be on Monday, January 28, 2019 from 3:05 &#8211; 4:25pm.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>THE ARTS:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>AFTER SCHOOL VOCAL GROUPS: <\/strong>NE Singers\/Boys Group\/Girls Group will rehearse this Friday, January 25th from 3:10-4:00pm<\/li>\n<li><strong>DANCE TEAM:<\/strong> The Stomp show is in one week. Let&#8217;s get ready! Also, please give Mr. Huie the form and the money as soon as possible.<\/li>\n<li><strong>DRAMA REHEARSALS: <\/strong>The rehearsal schedule for the upcoming week is as follows:\n<ul>\n<li>Saturday, January 26th &#8211; Scene 11 (p. 87-91) &#8211; Adult Nala, Dancing Lionesses, Lionesses, Sarabi, Sarafina, and Rafiki from 9-10 AM. All cast from 10 AM until noon.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>STEP TEAM:<\/strong> There are mandatory practices:\u00a0January 25, 28, and 30; 3:05-4:30PM &#8211; up until we have the Stomp Show. You need to be at practices or you will not be in the show.<\/li>\n<li><strong>WORLD PERCUSSION:<\/strong> There is a T-shirt form that is due to Mr. Huie as soon as possible. Do not forget the money for the T-shirt as well. If you don&#8217;t have a form, please see Mr. Huie as soon as possible.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>THOUGHT OF THE DAY:<\/strong> American actor Edward James Olmos has invited many young people in schools, hospitals, libraries, and juvenile detention centers. His message? Keep trying until you get what you want out of life. Why? Because sometimes it takes a lot of determination to achieve our goals. It can mean working hard and not giving up in the face of fear and failure.<\/p>\n<p>Today, remember the message of Edward James Olmos and the words of another great American actor, Mickey Rooney: <em>You always pass failure on the way to success.<\/em> So don&#8217;t let failure stop you. Instead, let failure be an opportunity to do better the next\u00a0time&#8230; an opportunity to try harder and to learn from your mistakes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DROP OFF TABLE<\/strong>: Student Services has a drop off table.\u00a0 If you are expecting something dropped off, please come to the Student Services drop off table for pick up.\u00a0Ms. Osorio will write you a hall pass or sign your pass.\u00a0 If you are expecting money, please see Ms. Osorio. Money will not be left on the table.<\/p>\n<p><strong>BOXTOPS<\/strong>: Want to help our school raise money? Please bring in boxtops for education. Boxtops can be found on so many items! Simply cut them off and bring them to your homeroom teacher.
