{"id":3628,"date":"2019-02-01T14:49:50","date_gmt":"2019-02-01T14:49:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/basdwpweb.beth.k12.pa.us\/northeast\/?p=3628"},"modified":"2019-02-04T15:03:14","modified_gmt":"2019-02-04T15:03:14","slug":"announcements-for-february-1-2019","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/basdwpweb.beth.k12.pa.us\/northeast\/2019\/02\/01\/announcements-for-february-1-2019\/","title":{"rendered":"Announcements for February 1, 2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"fcbkbttn_buttons_block\" id=\"fcbkbttn_left\"><\/div><p><strong>BASD ALL-CITY MIDDLE SCHOOL SEMI-FORMAL:<\/strong> The All-City Middle School\u00a0Semi-Formal\u00a0is taking place on Friday Feb 8th from 6p-9p at Liberty High School.\u00a0Tickets cost\u00a0$8\u00a0and\u00a0MUST\u00a0be purchased in advance.\u00a0\u00a0Proper Semi-Formal attire is required to enter.\u00a0 Students with failing grades and behavior referrals will not be permitted to attend the dance.\u00a0 Tickets can be purchased from Officer Elias during lunch periods.<\/p>\n<p><strong>BASD SPRING SPORTS PHYSICALS:<\/strong> Attention 7th and 8th grade students who wish to participate in Soccer and Softball this spring. The BASD along with St. Lukes is offering two opportunities for you to get your physical completed absolutely free. On Wednesday, February 13, 2019 from 5:00-7:00PM in the Freedom main gym, then on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 5:00-7:00PM at Liberty&#8217;s Memorial Gym. Physical packets can be picked up at the Main Office, Student Services, or in Mr. Korcienski&#8217;s room A107. Any student who played a previous sport this year on needs a reevaluation form filled out and returned to Mr. Korcienski. If you have any questions please see Mr. Korcienski in room A 107.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DENTAL EXAMS:<\/strong> On Friday February 1, 2019, 7th grade school dental exams will be done in the nurse\u2019s office. Those students involved will have individual hall passes. Students: If you have any dental exam form, please deliver it to the nurse\u2019s office now so we can update the schedule. It is expected these exams will take most of the day. \u00a0While the exams are being done, the nurse\u2019s office will be closed except to those students having dental exams and those requiring medications. Teachers: Please allow the students to come to the nurse\u2019s office at the time on their pass. If there is an emergency or you have a question during the exams, please call Student Services 42903.<\/p>\n<p><strong>EIGHTH<\/strong><b> GRADE: <\/b>Attention All 8th Grade students who were on Team Explorers last year. Those of you who attended our end of year camping trip can now apply to be a mentor for this year\u2019s trip. Please check your school email address for the link to the application. If you have any questions or the link is not working\u00a0please let me know via a message through Schoology. All applications must be submitted no later then February 14, 2019.<\/p>\n<p><strong>SIXTH GRADE FUNDRAISER: <\/strong>Attention All 6th Grade Northeast students!!!\u00a0 Students in the 6th grade class will be holding a 3 on 3 basketball tournament fundraiser of which all proceeds will benefit the New Bethany Ministries to help the less fortunate.\u00a0 The 3 on 3 basketball tournament will be held during periods 8 and 9 at a date to be determined. If you are interested in participating and entering a team into the tournament please see Jahsi Cole and Dywane Chess or Mr. Callahan to sign your team up. The winning team will be awarded a free Pizza Party.<\/p>\n<p><strong>STOMP SHOW: <\/strong>Tonight! Get ready students, for an incredible night. Remember, you have to buy tickets during lunch today. They will not be sold tonight at The Stomp show. $5 for Northeast students only.\u00a0See you tonight, show starts at 7pm! There will be an interest soccer meeting in the near future after school for both 7th &amp; 8th Grade Boys, and Girls. In the meantime, even if your slightly interested in trying out for the Northeast Soccer Team, please get a Physical Form completed. Physicals are FREE, did you hear that? FREE! Just get the paperwork from the main office and give it to your parents or guardians to fill out. Bethlehem Area School District will give FREE PHYSICALS on Feb 13th at FREEDOM and Feb 19th at LIBERTY.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>THOUGHT OF THE DAY:<\/strong> American actor Edward James Olmos has invited many young people in schools, hospitals, libraries, and juvenile detention centers. His message? Keep trying until you get what you want out of life. Why? Because sometimes it takes a lot of determination to achieve our goals. It can mean working hard and not giving up in the face of fear and failure.<\/p>\n<p>Today, remember the message of Edward James Olmos and the words of another great American actor, Mickey Rooney: <em>You always pass failure on the way to success.<\/em> So don&#8217;t let failure stop you. Instead, let failure be an opportunity to do better the next\u00a0time&#8230; an opportunity to try harder and to learn from your mistakes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DROP OFF TABLE<\/strong>: Student Services has a drop off table.\u00a0 If you are expecting something dropped off, please come to the Student Services drop off table for pick up.\u00a0Ms. Osorio will write you a hall pass or sign your pass.\u00a0 If you are expecting money, please see Ms. Osorio. Money will not be left on the table.<\/p>\n<p><strong>BOXTOPS<\/strong>: Want to help our school raise money? Please bring in boxtops for education. Boxtops can be found on so many items! Simply cut them off and bring them to your homeroom teacher.
