Good afternoon Northeast Family and Friends. Here is our Northeast \u201cShout Out\u201d for our first full week of November, the month dedicated to showing our thankfulness. This week is quite busy for our faculty here at Northeast as we get into the 2nd quarter and close out the 1<\/span>st<\/span> quarter with the distribution of our report cards next week on Tuesday, November 12<\/span>th<\/span>. Truly no one should be surprised by the 1<\/span>st<\/span> quarter grades, as we have done everything possible to make sure parents and students alike are aware of the progress children are experiencing in school. I do believe the 1<\/span>st<\/span> quarter grades will come as a wakeup call for some of our children who did not realize the amount of effort they must put forth to be successful from one grade to the next grade. Whether coming into Northeast from the elementary school or transitioning from 7<\/span>th<\/span> grade to 8<\/span>th<\/span>, the demands and expectations continue to get greater each year for children thus requiring all of us to put forth more of effort to help children be successful. Hopefully our children are up for the challenges as they progress throughout this school year and each year that follows. Children will review their progress with parents during our 1<\/span>st<\/span> quarter Student Led Conferences. A memo outlining the goals for these conferences will accompany the report cards next Tuesday.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On Tuesday be reminded it is Election Day and that schools in the Bethlehem Area School District are closed. Many of our schools are used as polling places for this process and Northeast is one of those schools. Our teachers on that day will be busy with teacher in-service also being held here at Northeast for the entire district staff. It is always a busy day without students, but we always look forward to their return so that we can practice what we have learned on their day off. This past week we received our student pictures from earlier this year. If you wish to have you child\u2019s photo retaken, they should dress for the retakes, as they are scheduled for Thursday, the 7<\/span>th<\/span>. Also remember if you are wishing to have retakes you must return the set of pictures they had taken in September.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>After our in-service day, we are busy with a special showing of Macbeth to our 8<\/span>th<\/span> grade students on Wednesday. We are always grateful to DeSales University and the WillPower Tour for this privilege. On Thursday we continue with our fall field trips when our Leaders\u2019 Rock 2.0 team goes to Roosevelt Park on Wednesday. Also on Thursday our 7<\/span>th<\/span> grade seminar students go downtown to try their skills in escaping the Escape Room. On Friday our 8<\/span>th<\/span> grade boys\u2019 volleyball squad will be taking on our three rival city schools in a volleyball tournament hosted at Liberty High School.
