Just<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">grab one off of the clothes line!!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>ACTIVITIES:<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>CHORUS:<\/strong> Welcome back, chorus members!<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Thank you for your time and talent given <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">back in December for our winter <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">concert. It&#8217;s time to start a new year <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">with more music! Please visit the PUMAS <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">website to see what is ahead, including a <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">song whose lyrics were written by a <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">former Northeast student! Stop by the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">chorus room to pick up your copy of the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">song &#8220;Stand&#8221;. You may also return your <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">music as well&#8230;just bring it to the chorus <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">room. Gentlemen, we are also gearing up <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">for Hamilton&#8217;s You&#8217;ll Be Back&#8230;the crowns <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">are in! Please go to the PUMAS website <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">for links for upcoming songs and links.<\/span> If anyone is interested in joining chorus, please reach out to Mrs. Parker either via Schoology or email at dparker@basdschools.org. We are still \u00a0working virtually at this point, but we \u00a0want to hear your voice and have you join \u00a0us! <b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">3. If you are interested in finding out <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">information about this year&#8217;s musical, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">please contact Mrs. Parker for a link to a <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Zoom meeting to be held during the week <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">of January 18th. It will look very <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">different this year due to the pandemic, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">but we will create a virtual experience for <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">our students and families to enjoy at the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">end of February. Catch up on \u00a0missing assignments and get help with your work. If you have any quests please see \u00a0Mrs. Papagni in room B305.\u00a0<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">7th grade homework club &#8211; Miss Rinaldi will<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">be running Wednesday and Thursday this<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">week in her room A112 from 3:05-4:15. <\/span>6th grade homework club meets Tuesdays and Wednesdays after school from 3:05- 4:15pm with Miss Capuano in room A202.<\/li>\n<li><b>WINTER CHESS CLUB:<\/b><b> <\/b>Get more involved and share your talents\u00a0 with the Northeast community by joining \u00a0our Winter chess club! This club will\u00a0 meet remotely on Mondays after the\u00a0 school day beginning on January 25th. \u00a0You will receive a full proud pound for\u00a0 attendance. Northeast Middle School \u00a0chess club is a great way to make friends\u00a0 and support our community! Please see \u00a0Mr. Wynn in A107 for more information \u00a0and a permission slip!<\/li>\n<li><strong>WORLD PERCUSSION<\/strong>: Practice today during hornet block, see you soon!<\/li>\n<li><b>ZOMBIE CLUB:<\/b><b>\u00a0<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Attention all Detectives out there! <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Attention! Zombie Apocalypse Club is <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">back in high demand. It is the perfect <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">time to learn about diseases during this <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Pandemic! Permission forms have been <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">sent out to all Homeroom teachers. All \u00a0Permission Forms are due as soon as possible.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>ATHLETICS:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>CHEERLEADING:<\/strong> Attention 7th and 8th grade students <\/span>interested in trying out for winter cheerleading. Tryouts will be held on 2\/2\/2021 and 2\/3\/2021 from 3:30 to 4:30\u00a0in the auditorium. Please bring your own water bottle and masks must be worn at \u00a0all times. Please come prepared to show \u00a0the following: 1. Tumbling (Not required but if\u00a0 you can we would like to see what you can do) 2. Dance routine (8 count minimum) 3. Cheer\u00a0 &amp; Past cheer experience Think you have what it takes to join the team? Come and try-out. You must have a PIAA <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">physical packet completed and turned in <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">to participate. Practices will be held at <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Liberty in the wrestling room in the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">evenings starting at 6:00 pm due to the<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">hybrid schedule and other winter sports <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">practices. Participants must bring their <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">own water bottle and masks must be <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">worn at all times. Vilma didn&#8217;t let<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">this stop her. She believed in herself, so she<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">wrote to the University of Texas anyway.<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">J<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">ust two and a half years later, she<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">graduated and went on to law school at<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Columbia University. At the age of 30, Vilma <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Martinez became president of the Mexican <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">American Legal Defense and Education Fund.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Here\u2019s what she has to say about education:<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Education is very important. It prepares you. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">You equip yourself to help others. It gives<\/span> <\/em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><em>the tools to compete.<\/em> Fortunately, the world<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">has changed a great deal. It&#8217;s changed <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">because of the unstoppable people like Vilma<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Martinez who believed in their own potential<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">and overcame all the obstacles. Remember, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">there are teachers and counselors today who <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">are committed to helping you realize your <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">fullest potential. The question is: ARE YOU?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>LUNCH<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">: <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Do you bring your lunch from home? If you do, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">you can add a fruit, veggie and milk for free!!!<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">That&#8217;s right! You can jazz up your lunch in the<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">cafeteria with a fruit, veggie and milk for free <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">if you bring your lunch from home. Bon\u00a0 appetit!! <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>SAFE: <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">It&#8217;s SAFE to Tell. The SAFE Team exists<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">to help students with problems in a <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">confidential manner to help remove any and <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">all barriers to education. You can refer <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">your friends or yourself. It&#8217;s now safer and <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">easier to tell: just fill out the SAFE to Tell <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">form which you can find ONLINE in your <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">guidance counselor&#8217;s resources folder.
