Did you know that missing just two days of school each month means that you are chronically absent? That&#8217;s right, just missing two days is a big deal. Why? Missing a day of school is like\u00a0 missing 8 TV shows that everyone else is talking about! When you return to the\u00a0 classroom, you&#8217;ve missed what everyone else did the day before and you are lost. After a\u00a0 while, these missed days add up. Coming to school every day is vital to your success.\u00a0 Attend today; achieve tomorrow!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>HEALTH ROOM:<\/b><b>\u00a0<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Health Room will be performing\u00a0 mandating screenings for the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">remainder of the week, so the health room will be closed except for emergencies and daily scheduled visits. On Wednesday, Grade 6 screenings will resume. Grade 7 screening will be Thursday and Friday. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Thank you!!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>LUNCH<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">:\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Please clear your lunch trays using\u00a0 the trash cans and then stack the styrofoam trays on the tables. This will help us reuse waste and do our <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">part for the environment. Remember to think global and act local.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><strong>ACTIVITIES<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>AFTER SCHOOL VOCAL GROUPS: <\/strong>Congratulations to the new members of our\u00a0after school vocal groups for the upcoming \u00a0year! If you auditioned for a vocal group, please check your email to find Mrs. Parker&#8217;s message regarding rehearsals for the week ahead. -Boys Group will meet today, Monday, \u00a0September 20th from 3:15-4:15 in the chorus \u00a0room.\u00a0-Northeast Singers will meet on Tuesday, September 21st from 3:15-4:15 in the chorus room.\u00a0-Girls Group will meet on Wednesday, September 22nd from 3:15-4:15 in the chorus room.\u00a0If there are any questions or concerns, either \u00a0see or email Mrs. Parker at <a href=\"mailto:dparker@basdschools.org\">dparker@basdschools.org<\/a>. Learn different aspects of theatre including improvisation, monologues, blocking, skit writing, pantomime, and much more! We will also examine Broadway today and yesterday, theatre in T.V. shows such as High School\u00a0 Musical: The Musical: The series, and much more! Come join us center stage! It will\u00a0 take place once each month to\u00a0 celebrate culture and customs. Please see Mrs. Johnson in B202 for a\u00a0 permission slip.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>GUITAR CHORDS 101 CLUB:<\/b><b> <\/b>Hey! Want to learn how to play chords on the guitar? Well&#8230;this after school\u00a0 activity is for YOU! You&#8217;ll learn both how to play basic chords as well as research songs that you would be interested in playing. We have guitars for you to use during this session, which will last 5 weeks. We will meet each week during both Thursday and Friday, from 3:15-4:15PM in the chorus room, D103. Participation is first come, first served!<\/li>\n<li><b>WORLD PERCUSSION<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">:\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Attention 8th grade students, World Percussion Ensemble auditions will be WEDNESDAY after school in Mr. Huie&#8217;s room,\u00a0 D104. If you can&#8217;t make it that day, see Mr. Huie ASAP. Hope to see everyone then!<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>YANA CLUB<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">:<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">YANA is a new club this year just for<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">6th graders. YANA stands for <em>You Are <\/em><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><em>Not Alone.<\/em> The transition to middle<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">school can be difficult. A213 is the<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">place to be after school on <\/span>Thursdays. Gather with others to discuss concerns, do crafts, and play\u00a0 games is what YANA will do. See Ms. Anderson in A213 for a permission slip.
