Hello Hornet Nation.<\/p>\n

Parents, it is important to keep your up to date information on file.\u00a0 We communicate with you via Schoology, email and phone.\u00a0 If you have any changes, please contact us.\u00a0 Also, if your child is being picked up for any reason, they will not be released to anyone not listed on their contact list.\u00a0 Please make sure emergency contacts are also up to date.<\/p>\n

In addition, please make sure to follow the pick up and drop off procedures so we help keep students and staff safe.\u00a0 The procedures are found in the\u00a0NEMS Family Handbook 2023 2024.docx<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Attendance matters and affects the academic success of your child. Please make sure your child comes to school daily and on time.\u00a0 If your child needs to be absent from school, an excuse is required.<\/p>\n

Report cards were mailed on Friday, February 2.\u00a0 If you do not receive your child\u2019s report card within a week, please contact us.\u00a0 You may also access your child’s academic progress at any time through Schoology.<\/p>\n

Please join us for a free Positive Parenting Workshop on Thursday, February 6 at 6pm! Facilitated by Darian & Yolanda Colbert, certified positive discipline educators. Join us to learn about your parenting personality, and support you with teaching children how to think, not what to think. We will have light refreshments and the first 20 families will receive a FREE book, Positive Discipline for Teenagers: Empowering your teens and yourself through kind and firm parenting. Please see the attached information! Presentation will be held in the auditorium. We hope to see you there! NEW<\/strong>\u00a0Afterschool Programs beginning in February for your child!!\u00a0 Does your child like art? How about Needle Felting? We partnered with Artsquest and will be running ARTSMART! This is an after school program through Artsquest Banana Factory. Classes will begin NEXT WEEK! If you are interested, please see the attached flier to sign up your child. There are ten sessions on Mondays from 3:20pm – 4:20pm. Students will complete 2-3 needle felting projects over the course of the ten weeks.<\/p>\n

YWCA and NEMS have partnered up to run YWEBuild! This program provides career exposure in the design\/construction industry. This program will run for 7 weeks on Wednesdays, after school. If you are interested in learning more about this program for your child, please reach out to Eliza Sukanick,\u00a0esukanick@basdschools.org<\/a><\/p>\n

Free sports physicals on Thursday, February 15 from 5pm – 7:30pm at Freedom HS Main Gym and Tuesday, February 20th from 5pm – 7pm at Liberty HS Auxiliary Gym. Sign up information is included in the sports physical packet below.<\/p>\n
