LEADER IN ME<\/b><\/p>\n

Thomas Jefferson is a Leader In Me School.\u00a0 Our students are taught the seven habits of highly effective people within the Leader In Me program.\u00a0 They will be given the opportunity to learn and grow through leadership roles as the school year progresses.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

7 Habits of Leader In Me<\/b><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Be Proactive<\/b> – You are in charge.\u00a0 I am a responsible person.\u00a0 I take initiative.\u00a0 I choose my actions, attitudes, and moods.\u00a0 I do not blame others for my wrong actions.\u00a0 I do the right thing without being asked, even when no one is looking.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    1. Begin With The End In Mind<\/b> – Have a plan.\u00a0 I plan ahead and set goals.\u00a0 I do things that have meaning and make a difference.\u00a0 I am an important part of my classroom and contribute to my school\u2019s mission and vision.\u00a0 I look for ways to be a good citizen.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      1. Put First Things First<\/b> – Work first, then play.\u00a0 I spend my time on things that are most important.\u00a0 This means I say no to things I know I should not do.\u00a0 I set priorities, make a schedule, and follow my plan.\u00a0 I am disciplined and organized.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        1. Think Win-Win<\/b> – Everyone can win. I balance courage for getting what I want with consideration for what others want. I make deposits in others\u2019 Emotional Bank Accounts. When conflicts arise, I look for Third Alternatives.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          1. Seek First To Understand, Then To Be Understood<\/b> – Listen before\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

            you talk.\u00a0 I listen from the viewpoint of others.\u00a0 I listen to others without interrupting.\u00a0 I am confident in voicing my ideas.\u00a0 I look people in the eyes when talking.<\/span><\/p>\n

            1. Synergize<\/b> – Together is better.\u00a0 I value other people\u2019s strengths and learn from them.\u00a0 I get along well with others, even people who are different from me.\u00a0 I work well in groups.\u00a0 I seek out other people\u2019s ideas to solve problems because I know that by teaming with others, we can create better solutions than anyone of us can alone.\u00a0 I am humble.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

Sharpen The Saw<\/b> – Balance feels best.\u00a0 I take care of my body by eating right, exercising, and getting sleep.\u00a0 I spend time with family and friends.\u00a0 I learn in lots of ways and lots of places, not just at school.\u00a0 I find meaningful ways to help others.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                The Student Lighthouse Team led a schoolwide project to bring our community together through gratitude. Each student contributed a feather sharing something they are thankful for, and the team worked together to design, organize, and assemble the display. This collaborative effort represents unity, student leadership, and the many voices that make our school a supportive and grateful community<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
