We are excited to announce that Freemansburg Elementary School is starting the process to become a Community School!

What is a Community School?

A community school is both a place, and a set of partnerships between the school, families, PTO, staff and other community partners.

Our goal is to integrate academics, health and social services, and community engagement into our school model in order to create the highest level of success for our students and families. Using our school as home base, we work to bring together various programs and partnerships in order to offer support and opportunities for growth and learning.  We look forward to working together to support bright futures for our successful students.

What is United Way’s Role?

United Way works to help give Freemansburg the tools to start this process. One of those tools is hiring a Community Coordinator (VISTA). Destany LaBar is the name of the VISTA at Freemansburg and she is thrilled to be apart of such an amazing school community. Her job is establishing partnerships and starting to build the foundations of a Community School.
