Home / Welcome to Fifth Grade

Congratulations, you’ve made it to fifth grade! Your teachers are eagerly awaiting your arrival, and we look forward to a positive and productive year. In order to get off to a good start, we’ve compiled a shortlist of helpful information. We’ll see you in August!

Some Things You’ll Study This Year
Math: geometry; measurement; problem-solving; fractions, and decimals; and of course we’ll review good-old computation. Also, be sure to “bone up” on your math facts before the start of school.
Reading/Language Arts: You’ll be reading, discussing, and responding in writing to a wide variety of stories and excerpts. You will have the opportunity to read and respond in whole group and small groups daily.
Science: changing forms of energy; energy resources; changes in matter; and force, motion, and energy variables
Social Studies: the 13 colonies; the American Revolution, and the U.S. government
