Middle School Intervention/Enrichment Period
The four BASD middle schools use the same schedule. All four core classes – English Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, and Science – have equal instructional time. In addition, an Intervention/Enrichment period is scheduled for every student, every day during period 1.
Purpose of Intervention/Enrichment Period
Intervention/Enrichment is a time for all students to get what they need during the school day to support their academic growth. Some students require additional support in literacy or math through personalized instruction. Other students benefit from dedicated time to enrichment in which they are provided the opportunity to be challenged and stretched in their learning. At the beginning and middle of the year, Acadience and IXL benchmark data are used to determine which students require additional support in literacy, math, or enrichment.
Each school has its own name for the Intervention/Enrichment period:
Broughal – Discovery Block; East Hills – Charger Block; Nitschmann – Lion’s Pride; Northeast – Hornet Block
