Technology education is an essential component of general education and is a priority in the Bethlehem Area School District. The middle school Technology program seeks to meet the varied levels of experience and skill of our students through a comprehensive program that scaffolds knowledge in the areas of: Typing, Coding, Desktop Publishing, Media, Vocabulary, Career Exploration and Digital Citizenship.

Technology 6 (TE6009) East Hills, Nitschmann, Northeast

The Introduction to Computer Skills course for 6th-grade students aims to provide a foundational understanding of essential computer skills and knowledge. The curriculum is designed to familiarize students with basic computer operations, fundamental software applications, digital citizenship, and internet safety. 

Technology 7 (TE7009) East Hills, Nitschmann, Northeast

The Computer Skills course for 7th-grade students builds upon the foundational knowledge gained in the previous year and delves deeper into computer literacy, software applications, coding, and digital citizenship. The curriculum focuses on advancing students’ proficiency in computer operations and expanding their skills in problem-solving and critical thinking in the digital realm.

Technology 8 (TE8009) East Hills, Nitschmann, Northeast

The Computer Literacy course for 8th-grade students is designed to further enhance and refine their technological skills, focusing on advanced software applications, multimedia design, and fostering a deeper understanding of digital citizenship. This curriculum aims to equip students with advanced proficiencies in computer operations and critical thinking, preparing them for higher academic levels and future career paths.

Robotics 6 (TE6509) Broughal

In 6th grade robotics, students learn a brief history of robotics and how to read and write code. They take what they learn and continue on to code two different types of robots. Finally, they will complete a hands-on project where they design, build, and test foam boats.

Robotics 7 (TE7509) Broughal

In 7th grade robotics, students review how to read code. They spend time designing their own robot. They will code two different types of robots and complete different design challenges using the robots. They will also design, build, and test a bridge to see how much weight it carries.

Video Game Design 7 (TE7519) Broughal

In 7th grade video game design, students learn a brief history of video games. They use two different types of coding platforms to learn the basic foundations of computer code and design video games. They will use swift playgrounds and scratch. Once they code their video game, they design their own controller to play those games with a makey-makey circuit board.

Digital Imaging 8 (TE8519) Broughal

In 8th grade digital imaging, students learn how to change and improve photos. They use an online editor to create many different types of graphic design projects. These include: the poster for the school play, turning your best friend into an alien, and creating your own animal using different tools.

TV Production (TE6529) Broughal

In this course, students will learn multiple aspects and skills of the television production field. This course will focus on video editing, platforms such as WeVideo, video creation- including angles and proper camera use, storyboarding, and careers in TV Production. Using skills they have learned, students will have the opportunity to create their own unique videos and content. Note: Students take this course in either grade 6 or grade 7

In this course, students will learn multiple aspects and skills of the television production field. TV Production 8 (TE8529) Broughal

In this course, students will first learn intro concepts for various media tools, including applications on the Adobe Platform and Video Editing software. Students will also learn proper design techniques and creative thinking. With all of this combined, students will work on independent projects using the concepts learned. Students will also have the opportunity to help create content for the school, including social media posts, video creation, digital signage information, and more.
