We’re thrilled to announce that Freemansburg Elementary has been officially designated a Community School in partnership with the United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley!
What does this mean for our school?
As a Community School, we now serve not just as an educational space, but as a comprehensive hub of support for students and families. Backed by generous funding and meaningful partnerships, Freemansburg will offer:
- Full-time support from a Community School Coordinator who will connect families with clothing, food, school supplies, housing assistance, healthcare services, and more
- On-site academic enrichment, mental and behavioral health services, parent workshops, after-school programs, and field trips – all designed to meet students’ academic, social, emotional, and physical needs
- A strengthened focus on attendance, family engagement, and school climate. Across the region, Community Schools are already showing improved academic growth, higher attendance, and more family involvement
Why this matters at Freemansburg?
A full-time coordinator means immediate access for families to critical resources, whether it is food, health support, or school essentials. Our students will benefit from social-emotional learning, positive youth development, and consistent attendance, all of which have been shown to support better academic outcomes. This model makes our school a true neighborhood hub, welcoming families to be active partners through workshops, volunteer opportunities, and celebrations of community.
This is a transformative step in our mission of creating a community of lifelong learners and leaders by inspiring our students to become the best versions of themselves. Being a Community School, our students and families will feel seen, supported, and ready to thrive. We’re proud that our school is part of a proven, evidence-based model!
