Hello Buchanan Community!
I am Amanda Hinkel, and I wanted to quickly introduce myself and express my excitement to be a part of the James Buchanan family. While I am new to the elementary principal position, I have spent a great deal of time supporting students, teachers, and families as an Assistant Principal at Liberty High School. Previously, I taught English for 10 years at Liberty High School. I proudly grew up playing softball and riding my bike in the James Buchanan neighborhood; being able to serve the community that raised me is incredibly special!
My greatest achievement comes not professionally, but personally, as I am a proud mother of two boys, Teagan and Logan. Please know that I will treat Buchanan’s students as if they were my own. I will work tirelessly to ensure your child(ren) have the best possible experiences at James Buchanan.
I am grateful to have the opportunity to be your principal and honored to work with the highly qualified and dedicated staff, amazing students, and all of the supporting parents. The elementary years are critical times of development for students and families as it lays the foundation for lifelong skills. I believe in educating the whole child and ensuring your child is safe, healthy, engaged, and supported.

¡Hola comunidad de Buchanan!
Soy Amanda Hinkel y quería presentarme brevemente y expresar mi entusiasmo por formar parte de la familia de James Buchanan. Si bien soy nueva en el puesto de directora de primaria, he dedicado mucho tiempo a apoyar a estudiantes, maestros y familias como subdirectora en la escuela secundaria Liberty High School. Anteriormente, enseñé inglés durante 10 años en la misma escuela. Crecí jugando sóftbol y andando en bicicleta en el barrio de James Buchanan, ¡y poder servir a la comunidad que me vio crecer es algo increíblemente especial!
Mi mayor logro no es profesional, sino personal, ya que soy una orgullosa madre de dos hijos, Teagan y Logan. Quiero que sepan que trataré a los estudiantes de Buchanan como si fueran mis propios hijos. Trabajaré incansablemente para garantizar que sus hijos tengan las mejores experiencias posibles en James Buchanan.
Estoy agradecida por tener la oportunidad de ser su directora y me siento honrada de trabajar con un personal altamente calificado y dedicado, con estudiantes extraordinarios y con todos los padres que nos brindan su apoyo. Los años de la escuela primaria son cruciales para el desarrollo de los estudiantes y las familias, ya que sientan las bases para las habilidades que les servirán durante toda la vida. Creo en la educación integral de cada niño y en garantizar que sus hijos estén seguros, sanos, motivados y reciban el apoyo necesario.
