LHS_MemDay2016_002On Thursday, May 26, Liberty High School held a Pre-Memorial Day Wreath Laying Ceremony at the LHS Veteran’s Memorial in front of the Common’s Building. The ceremony paid tribute to those in the military who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their country, particularly Liberty graduates including notably Marine PFC Kyle Grimes, LHS Class of 2001, who was killed in action in Iraq in 2005. Speaking at the ceremony was Major General Gerald C. Still, US Air Force Retired. General Still is currently the President of the Lehigh Valley Military Affairs Council and is responsible for organizing the City of Bethlehem Memorial Day Parade which starts at 9:00 am Monday, May 30 and begins at Liberty. Also, on hand to assist with the placing of the wreath were Principal Bailey, Marine Private Josh Plum (Class of 2015), Marine Recruiter, Sergeant Alan Abrams, and Army Recruiter, Sergeant Matt Mungavin. The wreath will remain in place through Memorial Day.
