Home / Academics / Memorial Day 2019

Liberty High School held a pre-Memorial Day Ceremony at the Veteran’s Memorial at the front of the Common’s Building. The flag was raised, and a wreath was laid at the Veteran’s Memorial.

Guest Speaker Tom Roney spoke to the assembled students about his experiences before and after the Viet Nam War.  Roney was raised in Buffalo, NY where he was drafted in January 1968. He served with the 3rd Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division after he arrived in Vietnam in June of 1968. Discharged in 1970, Roney returned to college and completed a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree using the GI Bill. He’s lived in the Lehigh Valley for almost 40 years.  Retired now, Mr. Roney volunteers with Habitat for Humanity and the Vietnam Veterans of America, Lehigh Valley Chapter 415.
