Liberty seniors once again celebrated Red and Blue Day 2018 with the traditional Senior Breakfast. After everyone had been fed, guest speakers Jarret Hitchings, (Class of ’03); and Bobby McClarin, (Class of ’99) spoke to the assembled students. Both speakers told about the huge part Liberty has played in their paths to success.
Jarret Hitchings, Class of 2003, was a Junior and Senior Class Vice President, a captain of the swim teamed an honorary football captain. This 10-time varsity letterman in swimming, football and track was also a member of the National Honor Society. After graduating from Liberty, he went to Penn State and then Villanova Law School, where he graduated with highest honors. Currently Hitchings is an attorney with one of the country’s largest law firms.
Bobby McClarin graduated from Liberty High School in 1999 where he excelled in the classroom and on the athletic field. He went on to earn a Mechanical Engineering degree from the United States Naval Academy. He was a two-year starter for the Midshpmen as middle linebacker as he and his selfless teammates led Navy to a ranking of 22 in the country during his senior campaign – ahead of the likes of Florida State and many other teams. He served his country with honor and pride for five years and then moved back to Bethlehem, PA in 2010. He has held a wide-array of Leadership positions in his professional career since moving back to the Lehigh Valley, including plant manager for Green Star North America, a global sourcing and procurement commodity manager for Air Products, and an operations manager for Versum Materials, a spin-off for Air Products. He earned a MBA in Supply Chain Management from Moravian College in 2013 and acquired his Pennsylvania Insurance license in July of this year.
