Scholarship Opportunities:
Lehigh Valley Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers (LVPSPE) My name is Jeffrey Kutz and I am a Director for the Lehigh Valley Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers (LVPSPE) and chairman of the Scholarship Committee. Our organization represents a multitude of engineering disciplines within the Lehigh Valley and focuses on the encouragement and support of area students who decide to pursue a career in engineering. At our local chapter of PSPE, we are in the process of awarding scholarships for 2026 local high school graduating seniors who will major in an engineering curriculum at an ABET accredited college program. In 2025, we awarded four (4) $2,000.00 scholarships and are hopeful that our fundraising efforts will support the same level of scholarships for this year as well. The bios of our previous scholarship winners can be found on our website at https://lvpspe.org/2025-scholarship-recipients/. Your contact info has been included in the distribution list for this email based on our outreach from past years, however, if you are no longer responsible for counseling students pursuing engineering then please let me know so I can update the distribution list.
The application form and additional information is posted at https://lvpspe.org/awards-scholarships/. Please review the requirements in the application and encourage any students who meet the criteria to submit an application for consideration. I am available by email or telephone to answer any questions about the application process. The application is available on the LVPSPE website at the link above. The file link will open in the web browser and can be renamed and saved to a local computer using another name (“SAVED AS”). Please have the applicants include their names in the file names and e-mail titles. Upon completion, the applications should be saved in an un-editable format. This can be accomplished by using “Print to PDF” function or by printing and scanning the application. The completed applications should be submitted by email to Scholarship@LVPSPE.org Applications need to be typed. Handwritten applications will not be considered, because they have been illegible in the past. Late applications will typically not be considered as it is not fair to those who have submitted their applications on-time.
Please advise your students to expect an e-mail acknowledgement when the application is received. In the past, several applications have gone into junk mail, so please ask them to follow-up if they do not receive a reply from me. Also, ask the students to include e-mail addresses and guidance counselor information (including e-mail address) with their applications. The application deadline has been extended, and applications are due no later than Sunday March 21. Young Professionals Council Scholarship Here is the link for more information on how students can apply to the YPCS Scholarship that celebrates seniors who excel academically and also have an impact in the community. The deadline for the application is March 13th. Student recipients will be notified in April and be recognized in person at the Sneaker Ball on April 17th. NURSING Scholarship The School Nurses Advisory Board is dedicated to serving and leading its constituent school districts to obtain the highest level of health and wellness among its students and employees. Guided by current research, best practice guidelines, and the Pennsylvania Professional Nursing Law the members collaborate to prepare students and staff for lifelong health through education, professional advice, and planned resource utilization. Scholarship: 2- $1,000 scholarships will be awarded for the 2025-2026 term. Eligibility: All candidates must be a graduate or anticipate graduating with the 2026 class of a high school in Lehigh County in Pennsylvania. In addition, all candidates must be currently accepted in a Nursing Program at a post-secondary institution. Deadline: All applications must be submitted by midnight on April 1, 2026. Details: Candidates will be notified in May 2026. The LHS General Scholarship Application for the Class of 2026 is now open! It is linked below and will also be listed in Naviance. Any senior planning on attending post secondary education is eligible and encouraged to apply. *Only students with a BASD email address will have access to complete the application. In addition to the LHS General Scholarship, many more scholarship opportunities have been added to the scholarship page in Naviance. -Log into Naviance -Click on “Colleges” across the top of the page -On the right side under “Scholarships & Money” click on “Scholarship Search” for a current list of available scholarships. Please take advantage of these scholarships and check back weekly to view added scholarships, which help defray the cost of college tuition. Scholarships are being added as they are received and many more will be posted! LHS General Scholarship Application Students will be notified in late May if they have been selected. - MORNING DROP OFF
- Attention parents and guardians dropping off your children in the AM. Fairview Street and Grenadier Blvd are becoming DANGEROUS for students, staff, and families in the morning. Linden is for BUS students, Fairview is for STAFF, Grenadier and everywhere else is for STUDENTS. Grenadier BLVD – Pick a lane, stay in that lane. Pull up as far as you can and drop your child off…Continue on Grenadier slowly. Try not to change lanes or turn once you’ve entered the drop off zone.
-
- A FEW STRONG SUGGESTIONS TO HELP KEEP EVERYONE SAFE:
- Do NOT pull into the LHS parking lot for any reason.
- If you are dropping off your child, please do so BEFORE 7:15 daily. Doors open at 7:15am and students are welcome to enter the warm and dry building.
- If you are running late and dropping off AFTER 7:15 am, I suggest you find an alternative street to drop your children off outside the perimeter of LHS roads. For example, drop your child off on Maple St, Locust, Laurel, Frankfort, Ettwein, High, Greenwich, Hottle, Montrose, of Madison Ave. (Please see the map below labeled with GREEN for suggested areas and RED for areas to avoid in the AM)
- Students CAN walk a few blocks and will be completely fine doing so. If they are concerned about being late, they should leave earlier to get to school by 7:25am.
