Dear Parents & Guardians,

Over the past few days, as the weather has changed, we have observed a dramatic increase in students getting dropped off in our Main Parking Lot within a few minutes of the bell ringing to start the day at 8:05 am. This has led to longer delays leaving the parking lot in the morning.

Please review the following:

1) Try to arrive a few minutes earlier to drop your child off in our Main Parking Lot. Just 5 minutes can make a huge difference and allow you to arrive and depart quickly. Do not wait until 8:00 am to arrive. Our library opens at 7:30 am for morning homework help and breakfast begins at 7:45 am.

2) If your child is provided bus transportation to school, please have your child ride the bus. Nearly 50% of our students are eligible to ride to school and this reduces the impact on arrival.

3) Walking a block to school can make a huge difference. We have crossing guards at 8th & 10th Avenue to help students cross W. Union Blvd. You can drop your child off in the surrounding neighborhood or pull over on W. Union Blvd and have them cross at these streets to school. This was very common during our construction of the new school. there is a drop off only lane eastbound on West Union Blvd for this exact reason.

4) If your child is within walking distance, we encourage them to walk or ride their bike to school.

5) Please be aware that the Office Parking Lot is only for students who have medical conditions and need to be dropped off close to the flagpole. The west end of the building was not designed to handle large numbers of arriving students.

Please contact me with any questions or concerns.

Thank you.
