2020_5_24_Parent Weekly Email

This Week’s Major Headlines:

  • End of Year Information The end of the school year is next Friday, June 5. Assignments will continue until that date. Our Moving Up Ceremony video will be posted on Thursday, June 4 at 7pm. Report cards will be mailed home as normal. Our school year food distribution ends on Wednesday, June 3. Our 8th grade slideshow will be posted on Sunday, May 31.

  • Lockers, Materials, & Uniforms The BASD is waiting for Governor Wolf to change Northampton & Lehigh Counties from Red to Yellow on Friday, June 5. Then, our high schools will go first to exchange materials during the next week. Middle schools will follow immediately after the high schools for band uniforms and materials. Locker contents will be distributed as soon as we are able. Please watch for dates & information. We are still waiting for information from the yearbook publisher on delivery dates.

  • Need Chromebook or Schoology help? Any BASD students needing Chromebook or Technology Help should fill out this form https://forms.gle/ZJE6SJNaX6RSSd927 Once submitted, a BASD Information Services Department team member will contact you via email (the email will come from “ISD Service Desk”). The Service Desk will then help you resolve the issue at home or direct you to go to Nitschmann to pick up the needed supplies.

  • Week 9 Assignments: All new assignments in Core & Encore classes are posted every Monday at 9am. Due to the Memorial Day Holiday, this week they will post on Tuesday at 9am. Don’t forget to encourage your child to complete both sets of assignments, especially in encore classes which provide opportunities to explore and enrich their studies! Due to the Memorial Day Holiday, Week 8 assignments are due on Tuesday at 12pm. Homeroom check-ins will be on Tuesday at 9am. LEAD check-ins will be on Thursday as normal.

  • Start of School Information The BASD Administration & Faculty are preparing flexible plans for school for the 2020-2021 school year. As Dr. Roy explained in his video last week, we have designed a flexible schedule to adapt if we will open for all students, have students attend alternating days, or have all students online. It is likely that during outbreaks during the 2020-2021 school year, we will be moving back and forth between these possible scenarios. Dr. Mayes will be hosting a webinar for parents & guardians in early June to answer questions about what this will look like for our Nitschmann Lions.
