Nitschmann Middle School runs on a 6-day cycle schedule. Next to each course, you will see how frequently it meets (some are Days 1/2/3/4/5/6, some are just Days 1/3/5, some are just Days 2/4/6).

All Students (Team, Citizenship, Lion’s Pride, LEAD)

At the top of your child’s tentative schedule, you will find a “House/Team” assignment. Your child will have all core classes with the same group of children on their grade-level team, just in different groups for each class. All teams are equally balanced in gender, race, academic ability, special services, support needs, and elementary schools (for 6th only).

6th Grade Team Lehigh (Team Leader Mrs. Oliver, joliver@basdschools.org)

6th Grade Team Lafayette (Team Leader Mrs. Hackman, dhackman@basdschools.org)

6th Grade Team Moravian (Team Leader Ms. Roufakis, eroufakis@basdschools.org)

All students are scheduled for Citizenship (homeroom where your child will report to when in school or online for at-home days for attendance), Lion’s Pride (team & activities during the school year), and LEAD (our Leader in Me program, which meets during the cycle).

Social Studies

All students are scheduled for either Math (MA6002/MA7002/MA8002), Advanced Math (MA6001/MA7001/MA8001), or Algebra 1 (MA8010). This course is a tentative placement. No changes will be made by the administration until about 30 days into the school year to allow the math teacher time to get to know your child, collect data, and confirm the math placement.

Most 6th grade students are scheduled for Exploratory World Language courses, which include 60-day rotations of Spanish, French, & German. Most 7th grade students are scheduled for one world language course, either Spanish, French, or German. Most 8th grade students are scheduled for the next year course of their 7th-grade world language course.

Students with an IEP may be scheduled for an every-other-day Academic Support class in place of world language with their Special Education Case Manager. This is the person to contact regarding IEP plans.
