August 16, 2020

Dear Parents/Guardians of Incoming Sixth-Grade Students to Nitschmann Middle School:

This letter is intended to provide you with more information pertaining to the sixth-grade orientation on Monday, August 31st. This in-person orientation is available for both our “hybrid” and “e-Classroom” students.

Sixth-grade students with last names beginning with A-L will attend the orientation from 8:05-10:05 am. Students with last names beginning with M-Z will attend the orientation from 1:05-3:05 pm. Busing will be provided for any student who is eligible to receive BASD transportation. If you are dropping off your child, please be sure to follow the Nitschmann Middle School’ traffic control procedures by only using the Main Parking Lot, not the Office Parking Lot.

When students arrive, they should report to the gymnasium entrance. Please remember that the wearing of masks is required. If desired, students can also bring labeled water bottles and personal hand sanitizer in a small backpack.

During the orientation, students will have the opportunity to meet their teachers and teams, read schedules, visit classrooms, tour the building, and engage in activities while adhering to the safety measures in place. Additionally, all sixth-grade students will receive their Chromebook on this day. Students who already have BASD Chromebooks & chargers should bring them to exchange at this time.

“e-Classroom” students who prefer not to attend the orientation will be able pick up their Chromebook using a drive-through manner in our Nitschmann Middle School bus lane. The distribution of these Chromebooks will occur on Friday, August 28st, between the hours of 12:00pm–3:00 pm. “Hybrid” students who aren’t able to attend orientation will receive their Chromebook on their first day of school.

Although our students’ first day together will not be like our typical orientation, we hope to provide a warm, welcoming experience for your child(ren). We look forward to meeting your child(ren) on August 31st and wish all of you a wonderful end to the summer.

Sincerely,

Dr. Peter Mayes Mr. Brandon Horlick Mrs. Kelly Hipp
