Core & Encore Team Updates
Team Lafayette (6th) (Twitter @NMSLafayette Team Leader Mrs. Hackman) Congratulations to Aja Saez and Luke D’Angelo who earned our September Pride of the Lions Award. We are so proud of their hard work so far. Interim Progress Reports were given to your child last week. Parents/Guardians should sign the report and have your child bring it back to school this week. Hopefully, you had an opportunity to have a conversation with your child about his/her progress so far this quarter. Please continue to check Schoology for current grades. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.
Team Lehigh (6th) (Twitter @NMSTeamLehigh/ Facebook @NitschmannTeamLehigh Team Leader Mrs. Oliver) First and foremost, congratulations to Juliette Miller and Liam Bulman on earning our September Pride of the Lions Award. Their hard work and dedication are greatly appreciated. We are officially half way through the 1st marking period of the year and Mid-quarter progress reports were sent home this past week.. It is important to note that this is a progress report, not a report card. For better or worse these grades can and likely will change by the end of the marking period. Also realize that the report only gives you a letter grade. For a more detailed picture of how your son/daughter is doing, log into schoology and check the actual grades for each subject area. Look for missing assignments that need to be completed and/or assignments that were not done well and examine what can be learned from them. We would encourage you to have a discussion with your child as you review their progress. The purpose of a Mid Quarter report is much more than just to report your child’s grades to you. It is a springboard into discussions about what is going well, what is not going so well and how we can all support them in becoming successful students.
Team Moravian (6th) – (Twitter @NMSTeam Moravian/Facebook@NMSTeamMoravian Team Leader Mrs. Roufakis)
Interim Progress Reports were sent home last week. We are asking that parents/guardians sign this and have your child return this to his/ her homeroom teacher this week. For current grades, please make sure to log into Schoology and look under Grade Report.

We are still unsure of what the winter season will look like. If we can have basketball season with spectators, we will hold a tryout for NMS Cheerleading for basketball. The team is reserved only for 7th and 8th graders due to PIAA rules. If we have a cheer team for basketball, practices will be moved after school. 6th graders may attend open gym during Lion’s Pride in order to practice skills for the 2021-2022 tryout at the end of this school year. The time is also beneficial to 8th graders interested in trying out for LHS Cheerleading in the spring. In order to be a student athlete in any setting, “student” comes first! I will be checking grades on a weekly basis to ensure everyone is in good academic standing.
