Team Lehigh (6th) (Twitter @NMSTeamLehigh/ Facebook @NitschmannTeamLehigh Team Leader Mrs. Oliver)
When Life Gives You Lemons, Make Lemonade!!! As we all know education during this pandemic definitely is not ideal and has its disadvantages, but it is also an opportunity to grow as a learner. In a typical 5 day a week school, concepts are introduced, gone over practiced and reviewed to the point just being in the class was enough for them to know the content and material. In this new environment that is not the case. The responsibility of learning is now on the shoulders of the student. They need to learn how to learn. We kind of look at it like this. Prior to the pandemic the students came to school and got a cake. Now we give them the ingredients and the recipe and it is their job to make the cake. This is new to many of them and it is a process that is going to take some time for them to fully get into that mode. In the long run this is a good thing. In the long run, this is where we want everyone to get: to be an independent learner. As adults that is what we all need to be. We have the opportunity to develop these skills in our students. Learning is work and this is going to take work on everyone’s part. We can not do this alone. We encourage you to sit down with your child to see what help they may need in getting to this level. They may need help setting up a daily learning routine, perhaps how to set priorities, or maybe just organizing the work and creating lists. Whatever it is, now is the time. Let’s use this situation to our advantage and not waste this opportunity to grow as learners.
Team Moravian (6th) – (Twitter @NMSTeam Moravian/Facebook@NMSTeamMoravian Team Leader Mrs. Roufakis)

Year-long
Cheerleading (Head Coach Mrs. Long kllong@basdschools.org)
Anyone interested in cheerleading for NMS should attend open gym practices on Tuesdays and Wednesdays during Lion’s Pride. Please bring back signed intramural forms.
We are still unsure of what the winter season will look like. If we can have basketball season with spectators, we will hold a tryout for NMS Cheerleading for basketball. The team is reserved only for 7th and 8th graders due to PIAA rules. If we have a cheer team for basketball, practices will be moved after school. 6th graders may attend open gym during Lion’s Pride in order to practice skills for the 2021-2022 tryout at the end of this school year. The time is also beneficial to 8th graders interested in trying out for LHS Cheerleading in the spring. In order to be a student athlete in any setting, “student” comes first! I will be checking grades on a weekly basis to ensure everyone is in good academic standing.
