Nitschmann Middle School Weekly Update, Home of the Nitschmann Nation!

Sunday, February 28, 2021, to Sunday, March 7, 2021

  • Change from Zoom to Go Guardian Conferencing for students begins Monday 3/1: On Monday 3/1, Nitschmann teachers will be transitioning all students from using Zoom to our more secure system called Go Guardian Conferencing. This system provides greater security & monitoring systems for teachers. This will require students to use their BASD Chromebook and teachers will invite them to join the online session. Students will no longer be able to connect through any other device other than their BASD laptop. Directions for students are posted at this link. Zoom will continue to be used for parent online meetings. You can find our BASD Go Guardian policies at this link.

  • 2020-2021 Yearbooks: NMS Yearbooks are now on sale at www.yearbookordercenter.com. Enter NMS Code: 5049 when ordering. Yearbooks must be ordered ahead of time – there are usually very few extras at the end of the year! The cut-off date for ordering is Monday, March 1st!

  • 2021 PSSA & Keystones Exams: Dates for the 2021 PSSA & Keystones will be announced shortly. We are planning to administer these exams in April & May online at school. Dr. Mayes will have a video prepared with everything when this plan is updated.

  • eClassroom Monday Schedule Changing Monday 3/1: Core teachers will be communicating slight changes to the eClassroom schedule. The time schedule will remain the same, but the order of classes may change. There are no Zoom links for Mondays – all students will need to be on their BASD Chromebooks and expect calls from their teachers through Go Guardian Conferencing.

  • End of the Year Dates: While it is hard to imagine, the end of the 2020-2021 school year is not far off. With the 3rd Quarter mid-quarter next Friday 3/5/21, these dates will be rushing quickly. You will find important dates below now listed above the weekly schedule and will expand as we add more events to this calendar. The BASD NMS Calendar will also be updated below.

Core & Encore Team Updates

Team Lafayette (6th) (Twitter @NMSLafayette Team Leader Mrs. Hackman)    It was great to have the kids in “all week”!  Work has been getting completed, and we have seen great energy in class.  Spring is close, be sure to continue putting your work in the forefront and making your health a priority.  Thank you for your efforts in classes and at home.

Team Lehigh (6th) (Twitter @NMSTeamLehigh/ Facebook @NitschmannTeamLehigh Team Leader Mrs. Oliver

The middle of the third marking period is this Friday. Check your grade report to see if all your grades are in good standing. Look not only for missing assignments, but also assignments for which you did not do well on and you may be able to remediate.

As we have mentioned before, the library is open  both before (7:30 am) and after (til 4:00) school for students who need a place to come in and work. As of now very few  have taken advantage of coming in before school.  If you have trouble finding a quiet place to work at home or your internet is not all that stable, before school is an excellent solution to the problem. We are also here after school til 3:30 for extra help and Mr. Fritzinger is here for math help at 7:30 as well.

Team Moravian (6th) – (Twitter @NMSTeam Moravian/Facebook@NMSTeamMoravian Team Leader Mrs. Roufakis)
