Nitschmann Middle School Weekly Update, Home of the Nitschmann Nation!
Sunday, February 7, 2021, to Sunday, February 14, 2021
- Presidents’ Day Weekend: A reminder there is no school on Friday due to Teacher In-Service and next Monday due to Presidents’ Day Holiday.
- 2nd Quarter Report Cards: Grades are available on the Home Access Center. A copy is being mailed to you at your home. If your address has changed, please contact Mrs. Scott, Student Services Guidance Secretary at sscott@basdschools.org.
- Watch for Winter Weather: Please keep an eye on our communication systems regarding impacts from the upcoming snowstorm. The easiest (and least intrusive!) is the BASD app, available on your App Store for immediate messages.
- Snow @ Nitschmann: Please leave yourself extra time this week to navigate the large piles of snow at school due to last week’s storm. Do not use the Office Parking Lot – the alley is too narrow for traffic. Use the Main Parking Lot.
- 9th Grade Course Selection: 8th Graders will be meeting with their Liberty High School counselors on Tuesday & Wednesday this week for 9th Grade Course Scheduling!
- 2020-2021 Yearbooks: NMS Yearbooks are now on sale at www.yearbookordercenter.com. Enter NMS Code: 5049 when ordering. Yearbooks must be ordered ahead of time – there are usually very few extras at the end of the year! Don’t wait & order now!
- Dining Services Food Distribution: Food will be distributed at Nitschmann Middle School on Monday & Friday this week between 10am – 5pm.

Core & Encore Team Updates
Team Lafayette (6th) (Twitter @NMSLafayette Team Leader Mrs. Hackman) The second semester is in full swing. Keep reading your Overdrive books, and bring your library books with you when you return classes will be going back to the library. We are moving to learning about Egypt for SS, so take some time looking up cool stuff about ancient Egypt to gain some background information. Enjoy your time in the snow, and we look forward to seeing you all again this week!
Team Lehigh (6th) (Twitter @NMSTeamLehigh/ Facebook @NitschmannTeamLehigh Team Leader Mrs. Oliver)
Communication Is Crucial! One of the keys to success for your child is communication; not only between us and the students but also between us and the parents. With the volume of students we have, our main source of communication is via email. We send frequent emails to both students and parents to update you on what is going on, notify you of missing assignments and/or low grades, commend students for good work, and to offer optional help/zooms. Several things you can do to improve communication: 1) Be sure your son/daughter is checking their school email daily; 2) be sure that we have correct email addresses on file for you, and 3) have our email addresses marked that they do not go to spam or junk mail (we often send bulk emails and if our address are not marked they may go to spam). Our email addresses are (joliver@basdschools.org ,shriniak@basdschools.org, adruckenmiller@basdschools.org and jfritzinger@basdschools.org )
As we entered the third quarter with a snow storm and several virtual days we noticed that many kids fell behind on their work already. For those that are struggling to get work done at home, we can arrange for them to come in before and/or after school on their at school days to give them extra time to get their assignments complete.. Please let us know if you would like your child to take advantage of this opportunity as this may become a requirement for students who we see are continuously not getting their work completed. Everyone Be Safe and Stay Well!!!!!
