Sunday Shout-Out – Week of February 5, 2017: Good afternoon Northeast Family and Friends. Here is our Northeast “Shout Out” for this Super Bowl Sunday starting the first FULL week of February. Hopefully our friendly ground hog, Puxatawny Phil, was wrong when he predicted six more weeks of winter and we get into milder weather sooner rather than later. Until then please continue to pay attention to our school district alerts regarding delays and school closings. This week is an important week for our 8th graders as they finally select their courses and career pathway for high school. Parents of 8th graders please be sure to have your children share with you their thoughts, goals and dreams for the future. Your guidance and support is the one constant for them and believe me they rely on that support. As you know, Liberty’s course catalog can be viewed on their website.
Outside of the regular classroom this week we end the school day tomorrow by taking our 2nd quarter Honor Roll recipients roller skating at Skateaway as a celebration of their hard work and dedication. This trip is always a joy and we congratulate our Honor Roll students. We then celebrate our extraordinary orchestra members Wednesday evening when we host the All City Middle School Orchestra Concert here at Northeast. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for this event.
On the hardwood this week we only have one game scheduled for both our boys and girls as we play our crosstown rival East Hills on Monday. Our boys are at home and our girls play up at East Hills. We wish them both the best as they begin to close out their seasons. Mark your calendars for the following Monday, February 13th for our final games for our basketball teams when we play Nitschmann at night on the big court at Liberty! Have a great remainder to your Sunday and may the team you are cheering for win the Super Bowl!
