Week of March 4, 2018: Good afternoon Northeast Family and Friends. Here is our Northeast “Shout Out” for this first full week of March. First off please note to check into the Student Access Center for the progress of your children now that we are over the midpoint of the third quarter. Those mid-quarter grades are finalized now, and there is still time for children to work hard and improve their grades if they are not happy with their marks thus far. If you need assistance looking at your child’s grades in the Student Access Center please call the main office at 610-868- 8581 and ask for Mrs. Rodriquez.

This week in school we have our Book Fair that benefits our school library. Classes began visiting the book fair last week and the last day for purchases will be Friday. Also this week we have our first official week of try-outs and practices for our spring sports. We congratulate all the students trying out for our teams and we encourage them whether they win or lose to never stop trying. On Thursday our team of Explorers will be heading out for a rescheduled team event where they will learn how maple sugar is farmed. We end the week on Friday hosting our Northeast Middle School Jazz Festival.

To end our Shout Out we want to give everyone advanced notice to mark your calendars for important upcoming parent sponsored events. Don’t forget our NEPTO Cherrydale fundraiser, which supports our school and students, is ending soon. Please have your child turn in their orders to their homeroom teacher by Tuesday, March 6th. Also on Tuesday our NEPTO parents sponsor their monthly “Eats Out” night at Friendly’s from 5 to 8 pm. Next week on Wednesday, March 14th you are invited to Northeast’s STEAM Night.  This fun night of hands-on learning experiences in the sciences, technology, engineering, the arts, and mathematics will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. Come see the power of liquid nitrogen, build structures out of spaghetti and marshmallows, make origami creations, and experiment with robotics, guitar frets, and programming computer games just to name a few. It is a FREE event for families, and students and there are many door prizes including Iron Pigs tickets and a Kindle that will be raffled off. Students took home a flyer last Thursday with specific information about signing up. For parent ease the sign-ups will be done online. The final event you should mark in your calendar is our 2nd Annual Band & Orchestra Parent Organization’s Cash Bingo and Tricky Tray, which will be held on Sunday, March 18th. This event is held in our cafeteria with the doors opening at 1:00 p.m. We hope to see you at these wonderful events. Have a great remainder to your weekend!
