NEW BETHANY MINISTRIES FOOD DRIVE: Attention all students and staff!  Team Leaders Rock 2.0  is holding a food drive starting next week Monday, January 14, through Friday, January 18. Our goal is to help the homeless by donating to New Bethany Ministries. Please donate non-perishable items and bring them to your homeroom teacher. On Friday we will be around to each homeroom to collect the donations. Start off your new year by helping people in need. Thanks for your support!!!

NORTHEAST GOT TALENT SHOW: The Pumas Team would like to thank Northeast staff and student body for their support of Northeast Got Talent. Yesterday’s afternoon performance raised a few hundred dollars for your encore classes here at Northeast Middle School.

RALLY 4 PEACE: Attention all Rally 4 Peace performers, there are mandatory rehearsals in the auditorium every day this week during period 2 and after school. Please report to the auditorium immediately after the announcements are over.

RALLY 4 PEACE ICE HOUSE PERFORMANCE: In observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday, Northeast’s Rally 4 Peace will be performing a free show at the Ice House this Monday at 5:00pm. There is no school on Monday so this is a great opportunity for you and your family to recognize the importance of Dr. King’s work and show support for your fellow students who are continuing to spread his message of peace and acceptance. The show is not appropriate for young children and NE students must be accompanied by an adult. We hope to see you there.

SAVE THE CHILDREN FUNDRAISER: Do you like to bowl and hang out with your friends? Well then, on Sunday January 20th you can donate to Save the Children and have fun at Town and Country Lanes from 6-8pm. For $12 you can get unlimited bowling, rental shoes and support Save The Children. The snack stand will be open. There will also be raffle baskets to win! Hope to see you on Sunday! Let’s bowl!

ACTIVITIES:

  • CHESS CLUB: Chess Club will be held Wednesday, January 16 after school until 5:30. There is still room, so please get a permission slip from Mr. Wynn in room A103. See you there!
  • KNITTING CLUB:Knitting Club will be starting up again on January 16th.  Students of any grade level are welcome to check out this club to learn how to knit.  See Miss Ayre in room A206 for a permission slip.
  • WORLD LANGUAGE CLUB: Our next meeting will be on Wednesday, February 13th in room B201.

THE ARTS:

  • AFTER SCHOOL VOCAL GROUPS: There will be NO rehearsal today for Boys Group/Girls Group and NE Singers. Get some rest after yesterday! Homeroom teachers, would you allow the students to contact their families during homeroom? Thank you…
  • DRAMA REHEARSALS: The rehearsal schedule for the upcoming week is as follows:
    • Thurs, Jan 17, 2019 3:10-5:00: Scene 6 (p. 38-51) Young Simba, Young Nala, Zazu, Banzai, Shenzi, Ed, Mufasa, Scar, Hyenas
    • Sat, Jan 19, 2019 9 AM-10 AM: Scene 12 (p. 92-105) Timon, Pumbaa, Adult Simba, Adult Nala, Rafiki. 10 AM-noon:  ALL Cast Scene 12
    • Tues, Jan 22, 2019 3:10-5:00: ALL Cast (vocal rehearsal) Scene 10
  • STEP TEAM:There is mandatory practice tomorrow Wednesday from 3:05-4:30 PM be there or don’t perform. There are five more practices until we have the Stomp Show. It’s mandatory to be there or you will not be in the show.  Wednesday the 16th, 23rd,and the 30th. Monday the 28th. And Friday the 25th. All practices will be from 3:05- 4:30pm

DROP OFF TABLE: Student Services has a drop off table.  If you are expecting something dropped off, please come to the Student Services drop off table for pick up. Ms. Osorio will write you a hall pass or sign your pass.  If you are expecting money, please see Ms. Osorio. Money will not be left on the table.

BOXTOPS: Want to help our school raise money? Please bring in boxtops for education. Boxtops can be found on so many items! Simply cut them off and bring them to your homeroom teacher. Homeroom teachers can then send them to Mrs. Derrington or Mrs. Braido and student council will take care of the rest.

SAFE TO TELL: It’s SAFE to Tell.”  The SAFE Team exists to help students with problems in a confidential manner to help remove any and all barriers to education.  You can refer your friends or yourself.  Just fill out the SAFE to Tell form which you can find in your homeroom, Student Services, the Library and the Main Office and drop the form in the SAFE Box or give it to your homeroom teacher who will deposit the form for you.  Don’t worry, “It’s Safe To Tell.
