Good afternoon Northeast Family and Friends. Here is our Northeast “Shout Out” for the week of February 10th. Though our students have a short week in school we have a lot of activities stuffed into those few days. To start off the week, tomorrow is our final league game on the hardwood. Both basketball teams play Harrison Morton with our boys playing at Harrison Morton and our girls playing here at home. On Tuesday we start the City Championship Basketball Tournament games. The boys’ first open round tournament game is played here at Northeast with Northeast facing Broughal at 5 p.m. while the girls play Nitschmann at Nitschmann at 5 p.m. Teams that win Tuesday night play in the city championship games that will be played at Nitschmann on Wednesday with the girls game at 6PM followed by the boys game around 7:15 p.m.
Besides celebrating our student athletes’ last games of the season, we are celebrating some of our academic teams’ own MVPs with our monthly Hornet Lunch on Tuesday. This week our 8th grade Team Dream visits the Bethlehem Vocational Technical School on Monday and on Tuesday all of the counselors from Liberty will be here to finish the course selection process.
We remind everyone that this week is a short week for our students. Our students have a ½ day of school on Thursday with dismissal at 11:30 a.m. and then our students are off on Friday. Thursday is a ½ day, because in the evening we have our scheduled Student Led Conferences. The conferences are held from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. If you have failed to sign up for a conference, please contact your child’s Team Leader in order to secure a time. On Friday schools are closed for Teacher In-service.
Mark your calendars for next Sunday, February 17th for the Northeast Theatre pancake breakfast. Head to Tocci’s Tailgaters from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. to help support our wonderful theatre program. Have a great remainder to your weekend.
