Home / Daily Announcements / Sunday Shout-Out for the Week of November 17, 2019

Good afternoon Northeast Family and Friends. Here is our Northeast “Shout Out” for this week of November 17th. It is a very busy week starting with our Academic Progress Monitoring Breakfast (aka Honor Roll Breakfast) for 6th grade students occurring tomorrow morning at 7:30 a.m. It is always a pleasure to begin our week recognizing students that put forth of themselves to successfully achieve Honor Roll. Our 7th and 8th grade breakfast will follow on Tuesday.  Seventh grade students and parents are invited for their ceremony at 7:30 a.m. and 8th grade parents are invited for their ceremony at 8:15 a.m. We needed two seatings for 7th and 8th grade because of the high number of honor roll recipients in each of those grades.  Also, our Book Fair will be open to parents on both days immediately following the grade level breakfasts.

Both Monday and Tuesday are half days for students with dismissal at 11:30 a.m., so that teachers can prepare for our Student Led Conferences. Monday’s conferences are scheduled from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Tuesday’s conferences are from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. In addition, on Tuesday we will be celebrating our designation as a Community School with a ribbon tying ceremony at 4 p.m. just prior to the conferences. Also coinciding with the conferences, we will be hosting a Job Fair in the gymnasium. We hope to see everyone sometime during the two days and hope that if you are looking for a job or a change in jobs you will stop by the job fair. If you have not yet scheduled to be at school with your child at some point during those two days, please reach out with an email or a phone call to your child’s academic team leader or guidance counselor.

Moving on this week on Wednesday we have our monthly Northeast Parent Teacher Organization meeting at 6p.m. and our Band Parent meeting at 7 p.m. At our NEPTO meeting we will be visited by our Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Joseph Roy. Then on Thursday we will be hosting the entire 4th grade of the district, as they will have the privilege of listening to the Pennsylvania Philharmonic Orchestra. Finally, this week we start our try-outs and practices for our winter sports seasons. We have over 100 children signed up to try out for our boys and girls basketball teams which is quite impressive. If your child is one of the children let go by our coaches, please remind them that Michael Jordan was cut from his Junior High School team when he was their age. Have a great remainder to your weekend!
