Good afternoon Northeast Family and Friends. Here is our Northeast “Shout Out” for the week of May 10th with a special “shout out” to all our wonderful mothers! Happy Mother’s Day. May you enjoy your day.
We wish to thank all the wonderful parents and students that extended to our teachers fond wishes and praise during last week’s celebration of Teacher Appreciation. As noted, it was particularly hard to celebrate the week without being with children. We especially thank our parent organizations and community school folks for all they did to make our teachers feel so special during this terrible time. It really highlights the wonderful community in which we live.
This week we enter our ninth week of not being in school and now the Governor has extended our areas “Stay at Home” orders until June 4th. The Governor’s orders prevent us from allowing students to come into to school to clean out lockers or return materials. So please stay patient and when the time comes when we can do so, we will put out information and a process for doing so safely.
We ask that you stay in touch with our school and in particular with our “@ Home with NEMS” site where we are constantly trying to communicate some of the positive outcomes we are having during this COVID-19 closure. Additionally, continue to follow up with your children on their assignments and their accomplishments.
Parents of 8th graders are asked to check with their children about family and student photos needed for our Virtual Moving Up ceremony. We want to be sure that all 8th grade students are included. Your children have been sent the particulars, so please ask them to submit those photos as soon as possible if they haven’t already done so.
Finally, as we have noted every week please be reminded that Northeast serves as a food distribution center for our children on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 1p.m. Please know that multiple breakfast and lunch items are provided in order to provide for the entire week.

Buenas tardes nuestra familia de Northeast. ¡Aquí está nuestro “Shout Out” de Northeast para la semana del 11 de mayo con un “shout out” especial para todas nuestras maravillosas madres! Feliz día de las madres. Que disfrutes tu día.
Deseamos agradecer a todos los maravillosos padres y estudiantes que extendieron a nuestros maestros deseos y elogios durante la celebración de la apreciación de los maestros la semana pasada. Como dijimos, fue particularmente difícil celebrar la semana sin estar con los estudiantes.
