Sunday Shout-Out for the Week of December 13, 2020

Good afternoon Northeast Families and Friends. Here is our Shout Out for the week beginning December 14th and our first day of our Short-Term Remote Learning. At this point, the Superintendent, Dr. Roy, has made the decision that until January 12th all learning will be done virtually due to the Covid 19 virus and its’ infectious rate throughout our community and across the state. Parents and students should have received multiple messages via email, voicemail and Schoology regarding the expectations during this time. If you have not yet done so, please go into our school website where there are numerous references and links with information regarding our remote learning during this time. If you still have questions or concerns about those expectations, please reach out to your child’s counselor, homeroom teacher or team leader. None of us wanted to see our school go totally virtual, however, we hope that by following these mitigations we can beat this virus sooner versus later.   

As for some particulars during this time:  

First, please note that our dining services will be providing breakfast and lunches for all school days throughout the time students are not personally in school. Please come pick up free breakfast and lunches during the Short-Term Remote Learning days. We will be distributing meals on Mondays and Wednesdays, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm on December 14th, 16th, 21st, 23rd, and January 4th and 6th. Meals can be picked up at our 7th grade/auditorium entrance. Meals are FREE and available for all BASD students in addition to all children age 18 and under. Please come and get up to 14 FREE meals for each week.  In addition, if you do come to pick up meals during the distribution hours, Mr. Henning, our permanent substitute teacher, will be here to give in person support to students who may be having difficulty with their lessons. We know that sometimes children just need an in-person connection to help with their work.  

Second, please note that our school office will be open throughout the virtual learning closure, however, the office hours will be from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. You may call the school anytime during these hours to reach the office staff, the nurse’s office or any of the counselors.    

Finally, please note that the mid-point of the second quarter is this week, so students should do their best to make up any missed work. If in doubt, please encourage your children to reach out to their teachers. No teachers want to fail any student, but they cannot help their students if they do not hear from them. Not being in school only complicates that situation.

Buenas tardes Familias y Amigos de Northeast. En este punto, el Superintendente, Dr. Roy, ha tomado la decisión de que hasta el 12 de enero todo el aprendizaje se realizará virtualmente debido al virus Covid 19 y su velocidad de infección en toda nuestra comunidad y en todo el estado. Los padres y los estudiantes deberían haber recibido varios mensajes por correo electrónico, correo de voz y Schoology con respecto a las expectativas durante este tiempo. Si aún no lo ha hecho, visite el sitio web de nuestra escuela donde hay numerosas referencias y enlaces con información sobre nuestro aprendizaje remoto durante este tiempo. Si aún tiene preguntas o inquietudes sobre esas expectativas, comuníquese con el consejero, el maestro de aula o el líder del equipo de su hijo. Ninguno de nosotros quería que nuestra escuela se volviera totalmente virtual, sin embargo, esperamos que al seguir estas mitigaciones podamos vencer este virus más temprano que tarde.

En cuanto a algunos detalles durante este tiempo:

Primero, tenga en cuenta que nuestros servicios de comedor proporcionarán desayunos y almuerzos para todos los días escolares durante el tiempo que los estudiantes no estén personalmente en la escuela. Venga a recoger desayunos y almuerzos gratuitos durante los días de aprendizaje remoto. Estaremos distribuyendo comidas los lunes y miércoles de 10:00 am a 5:00 pm los días 14, 16, 21, 23 de diciembre y 4 y 6 de enero. Las comidas se pueden recoger en la entrada de nuestra cafeteria / séptimo grado. Las comidas son GRATIS y están disponibles para todos los estudiantes del distrito, en adición a todos los niños menores de 18 años. Venga y obtenga hasta 14 comidas GRATIS por semana. Además, si viene a recoger las comidas durante las horas de distribución, el Sr. Henning, nuestro maestro sustituto permanente, estará aquí para brindar apoyo en persona a los estudiantes que puedan tener dificultades con sus lecciones. Sabemos que a veces los estudiantes solo necesitan una conexión en persona para ayudarlos con su trabajo.

En segundo lugar, tenga en cuenta que la oficina de nuestra escuela estará abierta durante el cierre del aprendizaje virtual, sin embargo, el horario de atención será de 7:30 a.m. a 3:30 p.m. Puede llamar a la escuela en cualquier momento durante este horario para comunicarse con el personal de la oficina, la enfermería o cualquiera de los consejeros.

Finalmente, tenga en cuenta que el punto medio del segundo trimestre es esta semana, así lo que los estudiantes deben hacer todo lo posible para completar las tareas que faltan y entregarlas. En caso de duda, anime a sus hijos a comunicarse con sus maestros. Los maestros no quieren reprobar a ninguno de sus estudiantes, pero no pueden ayudar si sus estudiantes no se comunican con ellos. No estar en la escuela solo complica esa situación.
