Hello, this is Dr. Quinones, principal of Northeast Middle School.  Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year. We are so excited to begin, and can’t wait to see your children back in-person at Northeast. There are a few reminders I would like to go over. If you do not receive this message as an email, please contact the school so we can update your email address. I apologize in advance for the length of this message.

First, our sixth-graders will report to school at the regular start time of 8:05am on Monday, August 30th while our seventh- and eighth-graders will report three hours later at 11:05am. Buses will be available to students who qualify for BASD transportation for both arrival times. Seventh- and eighth-graders should just add three hours to their regular pick-up time.

Sixth-graders will have the first three hours to spend with all of the teachers as they get situated and oriented with many items that are probably causing them to be nervous. Please tell them to relax as our wonderful faculty will be sure to make them feel at ease.

At 11:05am, our 7th and 8th graders will join our 6th graders at the school. We are aware that many of our 7th and 8th grade students have not been in a school setting for some time. Our goal is to take time during the first days of school to make sure students are situated and feel safe and comfortable. Our teachers will take the necessary steps and time to accomplish this for our students.

Upon arrival at school, students should report to their arrival locations and know their homeroom number printed on their schedule. The arrival locations were sent in the opening of the school letter. It is also important for students to know what bus they need to board at the end of the day.  Should any student still have any textbooks, novels, or library books from last year, they are asked to return them to their homeroom teacher on the first day of school.

Dr. Roy recently shared that we will be opening, as a school district, in Tier 3 of the BASD tiered mitigation plan. Tier 3 requires all students, staff, and visitors to be masked when inside the school. Students should come to school with masks. Masks are also mandatory on all BASD buses.

We will have our open house on Thursday, September 2nd. Open House will be from 6:00-8:00 pm. We will ask families with last names beginning with A-L to attend 6:00-7:00pm, and families M-Z to attend at 7:00pm. There will be more information this week.  Last bit of information is to let you know that our PTO will begin their Mum sale fundraiser on 8/30. Please look for the flier being sent home with your student.

We look forward to seeing everyone on Monday, August 30th and wish all of you a fantastic school year!
