ATHLETICS

  • SOCCER: The Northeast Soccer Team did  something that hasn’t been done in  almost 15 years on Monday this week.  Monday the soccer team traveled to  East Hills to battle them on their turf.  It was a tough first half. Angelique  Carvalho was amazing in the goal. She  dove and made many saves. We scored  first with Mazzi Paulus’ corner kick.  Finn Brown was able to pass it to  Issac Garcia for 1 to zero goal.  Unfortunately, the Mustangs did fight  back and scored on a deflection and  hard shot. At half time the Hornets  were down 1 to 2. However, the awesome defense was able to hold  down the fort in the second half.  Northeast battled back and tied the  game with a pass from Emmi Teran to  Deklan McCane. With about 11 minutes  left, Mikyel Finley had an assist for  Finn Brown’s goal. The last 11 minutes  felt like an hour, but the Hornets  were able to win against our Arch  Rivals East Hills with a score 3 to 2.  The JV team kept it close in the  second game. It was tied at half time,  but East Hills JV team scored two  goals. Congrats to the Northeast  Soccer Team. This Friday they travel  to Nitschmann to play against those  Lions! Go Hornets!
