8th GRADE DANCE: Northeast 8th graders! Your PTO sponsored farewell dance, A Night for Stars, is only 2 weeks away. Please remember that Formal wear is NOT required to attend the dance. Doors open at 6pm. Dinner will be served in the cafeteria. There will be a photo booth available all evening and dancing begins at 7pm in the gym. Be sure to be on the lookout for the Northeast Walk of Fame outside just like Hollywood Blvd. Any questions regarding the dance please reach out to Mrs. Bush with any questions you may have and she will reach out to Mrs Blevins from the PTO. See you in two weeks!!

JUNIOR POLICE ACADEMYAre you interested in exploring a career in Law Enforcement or learning more about  the Bethlehem Police Department? Then you should attend the Bethlehem Police Junior Police Academy. The Academy is a two week program that takes place right here at Northeast Middle School. Cadets take part in presentations, live demonstrations and fun activities across the county. Cadets will receive daily breakfast and lunch, along with Academy uniforms. The Academy is totally free to  you. The Junior Police Academy runs two weeks from June 13 thru June 24th. 8th grade and 7th grade students are encouraged to apply. Cadet selection will take place May 18th. If you have any questions or need an application please see Officer Elias. 

LIBERTY BAND BAGPIPERStudents interested in becoming a bagpiper for the Liberty Grenadier Band are invited to attend the first session of spring lessons on Wednesday, May 11. The session will run from 3:30pm to 4:30pm in the Liberty Band Room. This is open to all middle school students, but strongly encouraged for 8th graders wanting to  join the band for next year. If you have a practice chanter, please bring it. If not, no worries. If you have any questions, please see Mr. Rupnik. See you on Wednesday!

LIBERTY MAJORETTE: Congratulations to our 8th grade students Jocelyn Amador and Lilah McClarin on being  selected as majorettes for the Liberty High  School Grenadier Band next year! Your hard work and practice paid off! You make us all Northeast Proud!!

LIBRARY BOOKS: Students, many of you have borrowed library books from the Northeast Library. Thank you! Now it is time to make sure you have returned those library books! Please check your backpacks, lockers, bedrooms, etc. for any library books and return them to the library. Please put them in the book drop in the library desk. Thank you!

SUMMER FITNESS PROGRAM: The summer program at Planet Fitness for NEMS students will run May 16 through August 30, 2022. The program is free to all students ages 13 and up. Students between the ages of 13-15 will have to have a parent/legal guardian accompany them to registration and sign a waiver. Additionally, the students will have to  present their NEMS ID badge. If a student has any questions, please refer them to Mr. McCormack. Please inform the students of this exciting opportunity.  Many thanks.

ACTIVITIES

  • AFTER SCHOOL VOCAL GROUPS: Thank you to all who performed or participated in last night’s Vocal Ensembles concert – your time and talent make us Northeast Proud!  Thank you for being great hosts to the Marvine Mustangers! After school vocal groups – does Mrs. Parker have your permission slip for tomorrow’s trip to TJ for their STEAM Day?  Please visit during homeroom to hand in your permission slip. Thank you.  We will be heading to TJ in the afternoon.  You are responsible for finding out what work you will be missing.
  • ARCHERY: Attention all archers! This Friday the 13th will be your spring tournament. The  tournament will be more informal with no spectators due to the shortened season and  limited practices. There will be prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Also, on Monday the 16th we will have our pizza party in Mr. Detwiler’s room after school. Please start  bringing in your $3 for pizza as soon as possible. You can give your money to either  Mrs. Papagni or Mr. Detwiler
  • BAND & ORCHESTRA: Attention all musician students, please remember at the end of the day to pick your instrument up from the band room to take home and practice.

ATHLETICS

  • SOFTBALL: Congrats to our Lady Hornets softball team on their win yesterday against Lower Macungie. Addy Smith pitched a great game and hit an awesome homerun. Ellie Rumbalski had two amazing bunts, Davy Vega hit a great shot to right field, and  Mckenna Beck and Kayla Cummings also hit very well. Way to go ladies! Come out and support our lady hornets at their last game of the season, home today after school  against East Hills. Good luck ladies!”
