Joseph Santoro Memorial Fund

In memory of Joseph Santoro, an alum and retired Administrator of the Bethlehem Area School District, the Santoro Family established a memorial fund. This fund will support scholarships to Bethlehem Area School District seniors who attended Broughal Middle School. Additionally, the fund will support educational programming at Broughal Middle School with an emphasis on science, math, and engineering.

After graduating from Liberty High School in 1967, Mr. Santoro attended Kutztown University where he pursued a career in education. While at Kutztown, he contributed to the community by volunteering to support senior citizens and childcare programs. After graduating from Kutztown University in 1971, Mr. Santoro started his educational career with the Bethlehem Area School District as a math teacher at Nitschmann Middle School.

He went on to earn his Master’s in Administration through Lehigh University.  He would go on to work as an administrator of Broughal Middle School, most of which was spent serving as the school’s principal. During his tenure, Mr. Santoro led the school through a successful building transformation, working with design architects and engineers and his teaching staff to develop the new Broughal Middle School. In 2010, Mr. Santoro retired from the Bethlehem Area School District after 39 years with the district.
